As the nation prepares to mark 25 years since Sept. 11, 2001, Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh political attack. https://t.co/BHsuxDhOZj
Inheritance tax is has no place in a liberal society. My family toiled in the mines in Norrland And they worked in factories to provide for their children and build the folkhem, socialists want to steal their money so they can keep sending it to dictators and billionaires abroad
We need to remember the difference between government health INSURANCE (good, common) and government health PROVISION (rare, experimental, usually a disaster)
Some of this tweet is garbage, but those first two sentences are important. The techbros are adjusting priors about the scholarly consensus on the minimum wage post-credibility revolution, so lets hope the economoics profession can do the same.
I changed my mind on minimum wage after reviewing the data. I used to believe in letting the free market handle it, like most of you.
However, when California raised the minimum wage for fast-food workers, it increased prices for consumers by pennies (~1-2%).
There was zero downside... it didn't drive massive automation, nor did it cause businesses to shutter.
Exactly the same result as Australia and other American cities... no changes in jobs; restaurants didn't close.
We are at record profits for corporations.
We are at a record low in unemployment in America over the past five years.
We are at maximum social unrest due to wealth disparity.
We should WANT to see the lowest-earning Americans go from $12 to $15, to $20, and then to $25 an hour over the next decade.
This isn't virtue signaling; this is good business!
Why?
Individuals earning under $40,000 a year spend 100% of their income.
They save nothing... they just spend it at the same companies they earn it at (Amazon, McDonald's, the Apple Store, DoorDash, Uber, etc).
It increases monetary velocity.
Take the time to research all of this, and you'll find the only downside is for teenage workers, who aren't worth $15-20 an hour. It does depress those jobs, so we should keep teenagers at a lower rate.
Zohran Mamdani:
Weโre not running away from the Democratic Party. Weโre going back to what the party used to be.
You think about FDR and LaGuardia. You think about the New Deal. Thatโs what the Democratic Party once was. Thatโs what it could be again.
And if we want to win, I think thatโs what we have to become.
Gas prices are surging because of this new war in Iran.
Iโm calling for a suspension of the federal gas tax โ which would immediately drop the price of gas by 18 cents a gallon.
Suspend the gas tax. End the war in Iran. Make life more affordable.
Mamdani brought along the fake Daily News front page as a gift for Trump to cajole him into providing funding for a long-stalled plan to build 12,000 apartments on top of Sunnyside Yards, per City Hall & sources.

@utktpusa I took foreigner to be referential to foreign person, which is in fact a legal term.
If someone is born here to immigrant parents, they are legally on all fours with any other native born citizen. What "objective" standard makes them foreign?
@utktpusa Foreigner is a distinct legal term, and naturalized immigrants and kids born in the US are not contained in that category. Try reading the 14th amendment sometime?
To be clear polling doesn't have any bearing on the merits of immigration, one way or the other, that's why @utkcrs should debate us on the subject! DM to set something up :)
