The crowd raised their voices in unison, demanding justice for Robert Brooks, who tragically lost his life while in the custody of Utica Correctional officers. Shocking footage surfaced showing the officers brutally beating him, intensifying calls for Civilian driven Community Policing and reform in the prison system. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as those present shared their outrage and solidarity against systemic injustices.

The U.S. Navy Ship the U.S.S. Gregory was hit by Japanese naval fire in the South Pacific. Many were wounded and killed. French successfully brought these men to safety on the shores of The Solomon Islands. French was the first black swimmer to earn the Navy Medal for his heroism in 1943.
