🚨🇮🇩 SKYNET IN THE STRATOSPHERE: WORLD MOBILE IS BEAMING BLOCKCHAIN 5G FROM THE CLOUDS
World Mobile, with Indonesia's Protelindo, is launching a fleet of hydrogen-powered drones that will fly in the stratosphere, beaming blockchain-enabled 5G to 15,000 km² at a time.
Why drones and not satellites? Because they're cheap, fast, and a lot closer.
We're talking up to 18x cheaper per gigabyte than the competition, with barely any latency.
This is decentralized telecom taken to its logical, sci-fi conclusion.
It's a network that’s not only physically distributed but also powered by crypto and hydrogen fuel cells.
The pitch: patching "dead zones" in Indonesia, where traditional infrastructure can't go.
The reality? A new kind of space race where the prize is your phone plan, your data, and the future of connectivity itself.

World Mobile went stratospheric – the magnitude of this announcement for future telecoms and the @wmchain is hard to comprehend, but we will try to break it down for you with the help of IEEE article!
Telecom Companies Should Rapidly Adopt Stratospheric Technology and here is why:
Infrastructure Efficiency and Coverage: According to this article – single stratospheric airship can replace up to 25 ground towers (World Mobile’s drones up to 500), making deployment particularly valuable for covering remote areas, disaster response, or areas where traditional infrastructure is costly or impractical to build.
Superior Performance Metrics: The technology offers latency below 20 milliseconds, which would put it ahead of Starlink’s current network latency of 45 ms. This performance advantage is crucial for applications requiring low latency. These are – VoIP, video calls, gaming, autonomous vehicles, smart grid protection systems, remote surgery, real-time patient monitoring, fraud detection in real time – just to name a few.
Seamless Integration: “The mobile phone doesn’t know the difference between a HAPS platform and a tower,” with systems that “just plug into existing infrastructure and operate under the same 3GPP protocol” . This means no need for specialized equipment or consumer devices.
New Spectrum Opportunities: The 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference opened up microwave bands between 700 megahertz and 2.6 GHz for HAPS, which “fundamentally changed the business case” and allows service delivery “with commercially available handsets”.
Why It’s Not Direct Competition to Starlink?
The article suggests stratospheric platforms serve different use cases rather than directly competing:
1. Operational Flexibility: SoftBank (remember Manoj Kohli?) is considering deployment “whether as always-on infrastructure or as on-demand responders during emergencies and other periods of anticipated high demand”.
2. Terrestrial Integration: Unlike satellites, these platforms function as actual base stations that can enable “handovers between ground and aerial nodes” making coverage “look and feel to the end user much like everyday terrestrial 4G and 5G coverage”.
3. Complementary Coverage: While Starlink focuses on global, space-based connectivity, stratospheric platforms excel at targeted regional coverage, disaster response, and filling gaps in terrestrial networks.
The technology represents a middle ground between terrestrial towers and satellite systems, offering the coverage benefits of satellites with the performance and integration advantages of terrestrial infrastructure.
With a new types of AirNodes deployed by @WorldMobileTeam, the data processing on the WMC is going to skyrocket. That’s why, here at Depinity, we already are planning our next B2B2C service! Follow us to always stay ahead of all things DePIN.
One of the most undervalued crypto projects period!
If @airalocom raised at 1B valuation and is only an Esim, World Mobile should be at 10-20B and it’s only a matter of time!
