The Fazilka school story deserved attention - but it also deserves the full update.

The unsafe rooms were identified after the 2025 floods, students were shifted to a nearby school, and today Education Minister @harjotbains has shared that ₹28.65 lakh has been sanctioned for 3 new classrooms, with work commencing this week.

Now the important part: get the work completed quickly and safely.

Criticism is necessary when children are studying in unsafe conditions. But when corrective action is taken, that deserves to be acknowledged too.

Accountability should work both ways.

FMGs are not asking for an unfair advantage. They are asking for a fair assessment.

If there were genuine concerns regarding the June 2026 FMGE - changes in exam pattern, introduction of video-based questions, centre-related issues or an unexpected fall in pass percentage - these deserve a transparent, independent review.

Thousands of students have invested years, money and their careers preparing for this examination.

NBEMS should hear them, examine the concerns objectively and ensure that every candidate is evaluated through a fair, transparent and consistent process.

Bhagat Puran Singh Ji spent his life carrying those whom society had abandoned.

If the Bharat Ratna means “the highest service to humanity”, then surely Bhagat Puran Singh Ji deserves it.
