Queening Afrika is a tech-enabled social enterprise addressing Kenya’s synthetic hair waste crisis. It builds a digital waste collection system to upcycle non-biodegradable hair waste into Afrocentric handicrafts, creating green jobs for local women and youth, and advancing inclusive circular urban sustainability.

Maypaperflower is a social enterprise dedicated to reviving Vietnam’s 300-year-old endangered Thanh Tiên paper flower intangible heritage. Facing craft extinction, aging artisans and broken youth inheritance channels, the project integrates contemporary design, digital technology and sustainable development.

Plastic for Change focuses on strengthening inclusive plastic recovery systems in Zambia, with a particular dedication to supporting informal waste collectors, women, and youth. Following its recognition as an APGYD, the organization launched Zambia’s very first national plastic recovery initiative. By integrating informal waste pickers into structured recycling systems and establishing international value-chain partnerships, the program turns environmental waste services into formal, dignified, and stable livelihoods.

Porcine Power is creating a green future for rural youth, single mothers, and vulnerable girls. They’ve built a brilliant circular economy model: sustainable pig farming combined with organic composting and biogas production from waste!

🏡 Home-based farms & cooperatives established for long-term income.
🛒 2 mini-markets active in Antananarivo, cutting out middlemen to sell directly to consumers.
💻 LEMA e-market platform in development to connect young farmers with thousands of buyers.

Missing data and fragmented supply chains often undermine the circular economy. Led by a multidisciplinary team, M-taka provides the tech-enabled operating infrastructure for inclusive, data-driven waste management. Through their specialized Business, Traceability, and Intelligence digital suites, they bring transparency to the entire value chain.
With over 2,500+ online and offline users and partnerships spanning from informal waste pickers to county governments, M-taka has already helped avoid 4,500 metric tonnes of CO2e in Kenya. We can’t wait to see how they scale this model to accelerate global climate action!

Wasted Treasures in Lebanon

The “Wasted Treasures” project, aims to address environmental and energy issues in Lebanon by converting organic waste into biomass fuel. The program has processed 350 tons of organic waste and produced 315,000 biomass products, reducing heating costs by 60% for over 100 households. It has partnered with more than 50 farmers and created 13 jobs.

Eco Pakhta in Kyrgyzstan

The “Eco Pakhta” project, led by Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I-Razzakov, aims to address environmental pollution and low energy efficiency by developing an eco-friendly insulation material made from recycled materials. The program has successfully optimized the insulation material to ensure it is fire-resistant, non-toxic, and affordable. It has increased the environmental awareness of over 1,000 community members and reduced heating and cooling costs by 30%.

Agents of Change in India

The “Agents of Change” project, led by Indian Youth Climate Network, focuses on enhancing youth awareness and practical capabilities in the circular economy. The program has delivered thematic workshops engaging 350 youth and launched the Circular Revolution Podcast. To date, participants have initiated 50+ projects, with post-program surveys showing an 82% increase in circular economy awareness.
