my main project this year has been around learning how to talk to people and capture their stories. i've been interviewing older adults in my city, and asking them about the objects they love
sometimes I feel insecure that the thing I am trying to make is not very good
& then I remember this is the least experienced I will ever be in my career and there are decades ahead of me to fill with new attempts, new experiments.
it is very beautiful to spend so much time practicing being a better listener/question-asker/curator of words
the most important thing right now is to keep trying again and again
The coherence in ‘rizal was a pacifist’ and edsa was ‘bloodless’ and the massive, profound demonizing of dissent and progressives as part of counterinsurgency programs then tokhang. Disciplined / terrorized but also seduced into docility.
PH middle class loves the ‘good protester’: polite, well-dressed, articulate. Dunking on those who don’t fit simply because they're "too dugyot" is fucking matapobre hypocrisy.
Protest should echo the language of real struggle. If justice includes cheaper fishball, then so be it.
I am not a fan of Bea Borres, but I feel so bad for this girl. Putangina talaga ni Xian Gaza. Public figure or not. No woman deserves to have their private moments exposed the way it happened to Bea.
