For the record, unlike crunchyroll, Aniplex actually does consider Madoka a big deal, thats how weird and small they treat the us branch. This is a big release for them! Its baffling

[Kyle 1o1 @worthwhile_kyle]

I wanna talk about why the release is like this and its mostly down to japanese run company still considers the us market an afterthought

I doubt crunchyroll would even dub it, if its not demon slayer level its niche. We consider madoka to be pretty damn popular but they see it as a niche property, to make matters worse the stuff we actually consider niche they consider irrelevant.

@Hirotaka_xx Compared to a company like gkids who remain independent and do so much more with their releases, both home video and theatrical

[Kyle 1o1 @worthwhile_kyle]

@Hirotaka_xx aniplex sees the usa market as an afterthought, so their usa team is tiny and are constantly held back by higher up decisions, even their reason for super expensive discs with no extras is so japanese fans wont import them for a cheaper deal.

Masami Obari mentions getting into an SRW game (Cross Omega's Pop Team Epic event) when discussing "Things 80% of your fans probably haven't experienced".

Terada adds: "For the record, this was not Obari-san's idea. It was my request, and I was honestly expecting him to say no."
