Fib-4 is the most widely accepted and used NIT (non-invasive test) for MASLD and MASH initial assessments. In this video fireside chat, @wpbrouwer shares the recent study presented at #easlcongress 2023: "METABOLIC DYSFUNCTION ASSOCIATED FIBROSIS-5 (MAF-5) SCORE ACCURATELY IDENTIFIES AT-RISK LIVER FIBROSIS AND PREDICTS PROGNOSIS IN A POPULATION-BASED SETTING".
From the @EASLnews presentation:
"The MAF-5 is a validated, age-independent, inexpensive referral tool to identify patients at high risk of liver fibrosis in the primary care setting.
• It outperformed other NITs in the primary care setting especially in the younger and older populations and had a stable performance across (heterogeneous) populations
• It was significantly associated with biopsy-proven fibrosis severity in NAFLD/NASH patients
• MAF-5 was significantly associated with all-cause mortality
• The MAF-5 score may therefore be a good alternative for the FIB-4 for use in the referral pathway for liver-health evaluation."
