@TerenceMcCart14 Agreed. Get rid of cars, add fountains, add plantings. The monumental bases of those spooky Stalinist lamppost-towers would be perfect spots for Varsovians to hang out, like in Italian squares where people lounge and chit-chat on the edges of fountains or monuments.

@MantisRe1igiosa People in 2001 were saying you never hear accents like the first responders' any more. There is a longstanding gulf that has more to do with social class. (The NYC regional accent is stigmatized. Middle-class & up NYers learn to modify their speech to be more General American.)

@MattZeitlin I can think of several reasons why Manhattan might fall short compared to other cities. Paris has much better connectivity to its suburbs (RER), better subway station density, better traffic calming, better pedestrianization, and more bike lanes than Manhattan.
