WP Remote

WP Remote is a web app to help you track all your WordPress sites. Core, Plugin and Theme updates with a single click, manual/automatic backups and much more.

A central dashboard can tell you which sites run a vulnerable plugin.

It cannot always know whether a specific integration is connected, which feature is enabled or which account it maps to.

Portfolio data finds the sites. An operator verifies exposure.

“Emergency updates included” leaves too much unsaid.

Define the response window, who can approve the work, how deeply you will test, who owns rollback, and which exceptions cost extra.

Urgency should not make scope disappear.

One unresolved report says a backup plugin stopped saving its selections after WordPress 7.1 on some hosting environments.

That is not proof of a widespread bug. It is a reason to check whether your maintenance settings survived the update.

The reusable lesson: track configuration, not just software.

Version data tells you where to look. Feature state and mapped privileges tell you what the vulnerability could actually do.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

Separate client sites into three groups:

Patched and previously exposed
Patched but not exposed
Still needs investigation

“Plugin present” is not precise enough for risk or reassurance.

WordPress 7.1 gives editors more control without writing custom CSS.

That’s a win.

Agencies just need to treat responsive settings as hidden site state—and test, document, and support them accordingly.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

Our new handoff rule would be simple:

If a block has responsive overrides, document them-or at least make them visible during QA.

“Looks right on desktop” can no longer mean “this block is finished.”

@arcyton Exactly. Once everything screams “urgent,” people stop believing any of it.

The real job is making sure the ones that fire actually deserve someone’s attention.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

Alert fatigue rarely starts with too many tools.

It starts with treating every signal as equally urgent.

A five-minute homepage outage and an expired checkout certificate do not belong in the same queue.

Setting severity before updating notifications would save your weekend.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

A client can have 99.9% uptime and still lose the hour that mattered most.

Monthly percentages can hide when things actually went wrong.

Reports should show when the outage happened, how long it lasted, and what visitors couldn’t do-not just a reassuring green number.

WordPress 7.1 just dropped and it's actually good.

You can design differently for phone, tablet, desktop; no CSS needed. Notes finally feels like real collaboration and two new blocks (Tabs + Playlist) mean less plugins to manage.

Nothing flashy. Just stuff you'll actually use.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

You inherit a 12-year-old WordPress site.

No staging. No documentation. One custom plugin named final-final-v3.

What’s the first thing you inspect before changing anything?

[WP Remote @wpremote]

The least profitable sentence in an agency:

“I’ll just do it this once.”

That favour becomes the client’s new baseline.

A better reply: “We’ll include this one as an exception. Future requests like it sit outside maintenance and will be quoted separately.”

[WP Remote @wpremote]

The maintenance task nobody budgets for: remembering how a client site actually works 6 months later.

If the fix only lives in someone’s head, every new ticket turns into digging through history.

A 2‑minute note after weird changes saves hours during an outage.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

WordPress 7.1 is due today.

“Update all 80 sites” is not one task. A brochure site, a membership site, and a WooCommerce store do not belong in the same first batch.

Pick one quiet, recoverable site from each type. If something fails, learn from three sites—not 80.

[WP Remote @wpremote]

The priciest WordPress tickets start same way:
“While you’re in there…”

A quick copy tweak becomes a layout fix. That uncovers a template issue. Now you’re halfway into a redesign you didn’t plan for.

Good agencies show where a “small ask ” stops being small.

Friday, 4:45 PM. A client wants a “tiny” WooCommerce change live before the weekend sale.

The code may take ten minutes. The decision shouldn’t.

Who approves the risk? Who tests checkout? Who is on call if it fails?

That’s why emergency work needs a policy before Friday.

WordPress 7.1 ships Wednesday. Its post editor will always use an iframe.

If a custom block reaches for the global page rather than the editor canvas, it can hit the wrong document afterwards.

Test custom blocks and editor add-ons. A site can look fine while editing breaks.
