A8: I just let Ss know I have their best interest in mind. That’s hard for a 5 year old to understand, but we work to build a relationship of trust. I also let them know they can speak freely in case there are other issues that need to be addressed.#LEARNLap

A7: we are a pre-k through 2 school so there aren’t many opportunities. We have a student council that represents our school at events. They can participate in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. They can also be in our town’s parades on the school float. #LEARNLap

A6: I personally do not have experience with this, but our school does have resources in place. We have ESOL teachers and translators to help with EL students and parents. #LEARNLap

A5: I try to find ways to play into Ss interests and make material as relevant as possible. I teach inclusion and Ss are really great at helping those who need that extra assistance. They take pride in being able to help and they respond well to their peers. #LEARNLap

We mainly set goals with reading. Students track it by knowing they have to learn letters, letter sounds, sight words, and then they can start to read! They get excited when they meet their checkpoints each month in our conferences. #LEARNLap

A3: I make sure the students get to know each other as well as myself! If they don’t feel comfortable, they’ll be afraid to take risks. We play games and work in groups to build relationships. #LEARNLap

A2: rules and responsibilities are communicated to students on day 1. They are responsible for themselves, but have class roles too. I choose helpers daily for various tasks so they take ownership in helping our class. #LEARNLap

A1: when I have a class meeting we use a toy microphone to share. This helps the students know they need to listen to the speaker. We all sit around the carpet so everyone is equal and can be seen. This helps build trust in our classroom and let’s students speak openly.#LEARNLap
