Of course it's a poem not a list, maybe he felt jews didn't need bigging up, maybe it doesn't matter. I don't know.

@riotgrandma72 @MichaelRosenYes I grew up in Frome. In the early 70s Saturday nights featured skinheads who'd taken LSD roaming the streets after the pub shut. That WAS hell! I do remember a group gathered round a discarded Chinese takeaway giggling at the noodles.

@PeterBradshaw1 @BFI Coincidentally re-watched Werckmeister Harmonies on DVD last night. It seemed even more relevant to where the UK is perched at the moment. Slow-moving doesn't capture how active his camera is in each long scene

@markcousinsfilm A terrific photographer - I used to send and receive postcards of his pictures in the mid-80s. Double-edged I think - they are other-worldly but very real at the same time.

@MichaelRosenYes Odd that Spain won the competition comfortably with a diverse team and with players who'd probably/possibly prefer to identify as Catalan and Basque rather than Spanish.

@Otto_English When my company ( username ) worked in Belfast in the late 90s the Falls Road and surrounding areas were left off the tourist map. The map lines just fizzled out. Not like the Berlin map but not far off.

@markcousinsfilm Saw a gallery video installation with a short hallway sequence from Evil Dead which reversed randomly so you felt you were stuck in the hall. An extreme version of the feeling of time in Van Sant's Elephant. Would like to see both again but Elephant would only work on big screen

@SoozUK Pickford would be perfect for a new version of the film Zidane where the camera stays on him for 90 minutes rather than the ball. So much inner drama and occasional bouts of really reckless behaviour

@WordMercenary There's the rub. Festival funding goes on infrastructure, interviewers and outreach/education ( which is good ) but why the publishers ( who profit the most ) don't put more in is a mystery. Why Marina Hyde and co. can't imagine other types of sponsorship is another mystery.

@lottelydia A bad article but don't the AC require matched-funding. We ( username ) had to find 10% of overall budget for our applications. Tricky if you're not a name. Litfest budgets go on infrastructure and interviewers - publishers should do more as they make the money.

@pdfinegan your photos are more colourful than the aurora borealis we got - all the patterns but none of the psychedelia. Ours was a Bacup 1950's TV b+w version - all that was missing was a voiceover by Richard Dimbleby. We're heading for higher ground tonight......maaan
