Claiming student-athletes are "doing it wrong" by avoiding ROTC completely misreads the reality of college sports.
First, D1 athletics is a full-time job. Adding military obligations fast-tracks burnout.
Second, most athletes want to use their degree immediately after graduating, and a mandatory active-duty commitment stalls that.
Finally, coaches pushing kids into military contracts just to free up roster funds is entirely unethical.
