This week I had the chance to speak with @KalgoorlieMiner about the importance of general practice supporting rural communities, and creating an environment to encourage medical students and junior doctors to choose GP @RACGP
📉 When you start in family medicine you end in family medicine. New research from #TheGrahamCenter shows that primary care yield, was 97 percent for family medicine. Strengthening the family physician workforce is key to solving the primary care crisis. https://t.co/rAEWA7VHGd
Primary care physician shortages threaten access to care in the U.S. New @Health_Affairs research from #TheGrahamCenter maps the path from medical school to specialty training, cutting through misinformation on physician training.

Brilliant conversations about the present and future of healthcare at the Digital Health Festival in Melbourne this week. We’re seeing commitment to better use patient data, better communication and smarter use of digital solutions in primary care.

@wesstreeting please help GP Practices under South Cumbria & Lancs ICB. Execs have just passed on massive cuts to our local funding to save their own inflated salaries. Many of our Practices will go under. Execs will not speak to us. Patients will shortly have ltd svcs. Help.
Interesting range of streams and presenters at #ahw discussing all things about AI, interoperability and digital health, and interface between primary care and the rest of the health system
Great move to list new contraceptive pill, + endometriosis & IVF medicines on @PBS. @RACGP has been calling for targeted Medicare funding to ⬆️ affordable access to women’s healthcare. This will improve access to essential medicines. @mark_butler_MP

I welcome the Albanese Government’s $573m for #women’s health, particularly for #IUDs and #menopause assessments which @RACGP has been calling for. This will improve health and help reduce gender bias in health. @gedkearney@Mark_Butler_MP#auspol https://t.co/eaoS0rq098
‘All Australians deserve affordable access to GP care.’ Ahead of the Federal Election, @RACGPPresident Dr Michael Wright is heading to Canberra with a delegation of GPs to advocate for affordable access to healthcare for all. https://t.co/yVjKZi2XSC
It's been great being in Wangaratta as part of my first Victorian @RACGP rural trip. I’m here to listen, and learn more about the issues impacting rural GPs, practice teams, and patients. #RuralGPCare
A great example of how the 'efficiency' of letting non-GPs play in the general practice / primary care space is a *false* efficiency that wastes resources, delays proper care, and risks real patient harm.
Food for though @Mark_Butler_MP, @stephenjduckett etc.
While the targeted tripling of bulk-billing incentives supported some patients, we need a clear plan to make sure all Australians have affordable access to general practice care. This involves greater funding through increased patient rebates. #Medicare

I'm a proud alum of the RACGP Future Leaders program.
As GPs we are seen as leaders in our communities, but training makes a huge difference - I found how my values could inform my leadership and help me drive change through advocacy.

Great speaking with @TheGoodGP & Dr Tim Koh about my vision of what general practice can deliver. Such a crucial turning point for our profession, our patients and the health system @RACGP https://t.co/t0HOWigmIv
