A historic moment for Indian football fans! As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, we will have two players of Indian heritage gracing the global stage. 🌏⚽
19-year-old winger Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid makes history as the first player of Indian origin selected for the Qatar national team, carrying the immense pride of his family roots in Kannur, Kerala. Meanwhile, Australia’s 26-man squad features Melbourne Victory’s dynamic 25-year-old winger Nishan Velupillay, whose origins are in Tamil Nadu.
They follow in the footsteps of Vikash Dhorasoo, the elegant and creative midfielder whose forefathers hailed from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh (migrating to Mauritius and later to France), who played for the French National Team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, winning a runners-up medal.
Seeing the global Indian diaspora make its mark on football’s grandest platform is an absolute joy. Best of luck to both young men as they head to North America! 🇦🇺🇶🇦🇮🇳 #FIFAWorldCup #IndianDiaspora
Red Sea. Hormuz. Soaring freight costs.
Indian FMCG giants are turning geopolitical crisis into serious business velocity.
West Asia crisis is forcing India's FMCG giants to rewrite their supply chain strategy in real-time.
Companies like Dabur, Britannia, Emami & Tata Consumer Products are moving fast.
Key moves:
• Dabur: Shifting production out of Ras Al Khaimah (UAE) to India, Egypt & Turkey. West Asia = \~4% of total revenue.
• Britannia: Relocating manufacturing from Oman & Dubai to its Mundra (Gujarat) facility for North American & West Asian exports.
• Emami: Reducing dependence on the region (W Asia forms ~35-41% of its international business).
Strategies:
- Diversifying sourcing of inputs & packaging materials
- Re-routing exports away from Hormuz
- Building India-centric manufacturing
Implications: There are short-term margin pressure due to higher costs, but this will drive massive long-term de-risking. This accelerates "Atmanirbhar" in FMCG and turns geopolitical risk into resilience.
India Inc. isn't just reacting, it's future-proofing.

Heartiest congratulations to PM @narendramodi ji for the phenomenal victories in West Bengal and Assam.
The East - Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Assam - has collectively put its faith in PM Modi's aspirational agenda of a Viksit Bharat.
These states are India's richest in natural resources and human resources. Now, they will march forward on GDP, per capita income, job creation and poverty eradication and catch up with the rest of India. The women of this region are very talented and empowered. They will be the biggest contributors.
Like the sun rises in the East, India's rise as a superpower will also happen from the East.
In his 12 years in office, PM Modi has achieved what nobody thought was possible in India. For the first time, India's most vulnerable people are getting their deserved share of benefits straight to their bank accounts via direct cash transfers. India's infrastructure is becoming world class. Just look at the expressways, roads and airports. They are better than in the developed countries. And, now, the deregulation agenda is unleashing the entrepreneurial energy of our youth.
This is India's time. We have a young population and huge resources. We are blessed to have a visionary leader with the power of execution.
Sitting in London, I am witness to a world which is sitting up and taking note.
Once again, I congratulate the PM and Home Minister @AmitShah for their historic electoral success. May the tremendous resources of our Greater Purvanchal become the engine of growth for Bharat.

Sir, can we now expect rejuvenation of Indian #football? Indian football needs some govt support, focus with a change in entire approach. Otherwise, India may prosper in every dimension & global ranking, but remain deep down in @FIFAcom global ranking @PMOIndia@mansukhmandviya

The recent report on rising entry-level 5G smartphone prices points to a clear challenge in India’s digital growth journey.
Entry-level devices have moved from sub-₹10,000 to ₹13,000–14,000, with projections of ₹17,000 and beyond. This shift directly affects who participates in the digital economy. For millions across Tier-2, Tier-3 and rural India, where over 70% of new smartphone adoption is happening, a smartphone enables access to UPI payments, government services, education and livelihoods.
India has built strong manufacturing capacity in the sub-₹20,000 segment. Yet these devices continue to attract an 18% Goods and Services Tax rate, placing mass-access devices in the same bracket as discretionary consumption.
As entry-level prices rise, affordability tightens, adoption slows and the ripple effect extends across fintech, e-governance and digital services.
If price pressures continue and any upward movement in GST comes into play, the impact could become significantly sharper. The entry barrier for millions of first-time users would move further out of reach.
A calibrated GST approach for mass-market smartphones deserves serious consideration. Even a modest 5% price correction could unlock millions of additional units annually in the sub-₹20,000 segment.
This discussion connects directly to access, inclusion and the pace of India’s digital expansion.

So touching. How I wish elections were 365 days a year so that our netas can travel extensively and really help hundreds of people like these who are in poverty without access to proper healthcare or ration. #elections#westbengal@AITCofficial@BJP4India
Today, while on his way to the Baba Boro Kachari Temple in Bishnupur, Shri @abhishekaitc noticed an elderly man collapse in front of his vehicle. Without a moment’s hesitation, he stepped out, helped the gentleman up, and personally ensured that he was attended to and that his condition was checked.
This simple yet deeply humane gesture reflects the compassion, empathy, and sense of responsibility that define his leadership. For him, public life has always been guided not merely by duty, but by an abiding concern for the well-being and dignity of every individual.
Fears of LPG shortages amid the Iran war are triggering panic buying of electric cooking appliances across India.
• Induction cooktop sales up 3×
• Retailers reporting 2 months of sales in just 2 days
• One chain sold 1,500+ units in a day vs 30–40 normally
• Some stores seeing 30× surge and running out of stock.
Consumers are hedging against LPG uncertainty via electric kettles, rice cookers and air fryers flying off shelves.
