Robbie Robertson. The polarizing genius of The Band, my favorite music group of all time. One of the greatest songwriters of all time, and a man Dylan described as "the only mathematical guitar genius to not offend my intestinal sense of nervousness." RIP
It's hard to describe the impact of Robbie. The Band was at the forefront of two of the greatest shifts in North American music, including the birth of Americana/country rock, then Dylan going electric. Hugely influential in every sense of the word.
RIP to the greatest living American writer of the last 60 years. Maybe my favorite writer of all time, and certainly my dad's. Absolute literary powerhouse. I'll never forget the first 3 times I tried to read Blood Meridian, and on the fourth time, how amazing it truly was.
