@JustineBateman It’s almost a perfect metaphor but not for the reasons he thinks. AI filmmaking is less “having sex and then they hand you the baby” and more like saying you want a baby & simply being handed one. A baby without the experience of creating it isn’t the same thing. Neither is art.
@PhoenixBlackNow I’ve sold a TV show on a deck. I’ve sold a movie on a pitch. Both sales were possible because I had pre-existing relationships with companies. I had a pre-existing relationship because of (other) script sales. I sold scripts because I had reps. I had reps because I wrote specs!
@msobczak (A) The premise of ‘The Long Walk’ makes perfect sense, and (B) @HwoodScrptReadr literally says ‘One Night Only’ could still be great (ie work for people).
@HwoodScrptReadr@DiscussingFilm Yeah. I mean, the script/film could be amazing but with the trailer, I guess they’re playing the simplicity of “it’s The Purge - but with sex!” and banking on most folk just going with it.
@HwoodScrptReadr@DiscussingFilm The Purge is built around a conceptual ‘what if’ that is immediate, whereas needs two: a ‘what if’ and a ‘and then what if’.
@JackCuthbert@DannyManus@david_s_consult There is definitely a subset of us who could charge but feel uneasy about it. For me, I often wonder if it’s because of the support I received from people within the industry when starting out - which was invaluable but always free.
@EwenDCameron@p_bov1@Che_Ntcham@scotlandscoeff1 The first 32 games (re split fixtures) inform the last 5. Hearts & Rangers have played additional home game/s & their away form, especially recently, has been honking. Given 3 points separates the top 3, there's an argument that the additional home game HAS been the difference.
@DannyManus It’s a bit like saying, “Spielberg doesn’t write his own scripts, so why can’t X direct one written by AI?”
It’s a completely ridiculous comparison that falls apart under the most basic scrutiny.
