Dystopian political thriller A Mound Over Hell set in 2098 after America and the West have lost WW3 to the Islamic Empire. Called “1984 Meets Shoeless Joe”
Santa Monica police chief Darrick Jacob refused to file hate crime charges after a criminal attacked a Jewish couple with a bat. While screaming anti-Semitic slurs. And urging his dog to bite the Jews. Members of The Tribe would be wise to avoid Santa Monica while Jacob is chief.
This woman survived Auschwitz and came to Israel on a ragged boat not knowing what the future will hold.
Today she is celebrating her 100th birthday with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Happy birthday Savta Mina!

Hey.
If anyone thinks I'm on my way to spill my guts about my darkest secrets to the @nyt or @60Minutes because I believed THEM when they said THEY 'believed me' and 'wanted to tell my story,' tackle my ass, snatch that phone away, and fast.
Wrap me in a blanket, throw me in the car, and keep me in a secure, undisclosed location with plenty of McDonald's double cheeseburgers until I snap out of it.
Like it was a cult deprogramming intervention or something.
I'll thank you in the morning, believe me.
@markgjudge Mark, may I send you A Mound Over Hell, the first book in my dystopian trilogy which begins in 2098 after America has lost WW3 to Islamic Empire? I’m not asking for a review or anything. I just think if you get the time you’d appreciate the sentiments.
I'd say @brithume, with maybe Peter Jennings, who usually seemed pretty unassuming. Hard to say about earlier generations. David Brinkley probably is in this conversation somewhere. Maybe Bernard Shaw, too?

Either Pelley wanted to get fired, or thought he was Just Too Indispensable To The Organization. I suspect it was the latter. There's always *one guy* in these situations.

Hollywood actually put the knife in years earlier.
In 2021, the shiny new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (the official Oscars museum) opened with a big “diversity & inclusion” push… and literally erased the Jewish immigrant minority who literally built Hollywood.
No meaningful mention in the core exhibits of the Eastern European Jews who fled pogroms, faced antisemitism in “respectable” industries, and then created the studio system from scratch.
Examples? Literally every studio:
• Warner Bros: Harry, Albert, Sam & Jack (Polish Jewish immigrants)
• MGM: Louis B. Mayer (Belarus-born)
• Paramount: Adolph Zukor (Hungarian Jewish immigrant)
• Universal: Carl Laemmle (German Jewish)
• Columbia: Harry Cohn
• Fox: William Fox (Hungarian Jewish)
• Samuel Goldwyn (Polish Jewish, Goldwyn Pictures)
These guys turned a scrappy new medium into a global empire of entertainment and created and exported the American Dream.
Only to be scratched from history.
The omission was so glaring it sparked outrage, even from the embarrassed Jewish donors and movie historians.
They eventually added “Hollywoodland: Jewish Founders…” after backlash (and then had to revise that exhibit amid more controversy).
Hollywood didn’t just forget its Jewish roots in 2021. It actively sidelined them while celebrating every other group. How did this happen?
Then Oct 7 massacred, and suddenly all the supposed “allies” vanished, as brave Debra Messing discovered.
But the erasure had started long before. What a tragic disgrace.
“No good deed will go unpunished”

While there's some dispute about how specifically bad the call went, the fact that the split broke out into the open is the worst aspect of the exchange.

A well known rabbi made Aliyah, moved to Israel.
After a few months in Israel, his students asked him “Rabbi; what do you miss most from America?”
Without blinking an eye, the rabbi replied “The longing for Israel.”
Loved this story so much! ✡️🇮🇱❤️
