JUST IN🚨: A 17-year-old student created an AI that detects autism and ADHD just by scanning the retina.
In initial tests, Edward Kang's AI achieved 89% diagnostic accuracy.
Exercise is essential, but it cannot compensate for a diet that keeps you sick.
I’ve seen people exercise regularly for years while continuing to struggle with obesity, insulin resistance, and other metabolic problems.
Nutrition usually does the heavy lifting in reversing metabolic dysfunction.
Exercise, especially resistance training, helps build the strength, muscle, and metabolic resilience needed for long-term health.
Weight loss is often just the beginning.
I’ve watched blood glucose, blood pressure, triglycerides, fatty liver, and other metabolic problems improve dramatically, sometimes before substantial weight loss occurs.
The goal isn’t simply to weigh less.
It’s to become metabolically healthier, preserve or build muscle, feel better, and reduce dependence on medications when possible.
6 years of helping patients reverse metabolic disease has taught me something I didn’t fully appreciate in medical school:
Knowing what works and actually doing it are two very different things.
Here are 11 lessons from the patients who succeeded, those who struggled, and those who surprised me most.

Older adults who consumed a tablespoon of natural, unprocessed cocoa each day for 12 weeks had a significant improvement in muscle mass index, grip strength, and all four physical function tests. https://t.co/E0CA3lmiLY
Having ADHD (or general anhedonia) and not trying even 10-15mg of zinc in the morning is mind-blowing.
Besides the fact that a lot of people with ADHD (and anhedonia) are deficient, zinc acts as a non-competitive blocker of the human dopamine transporter (DAT).
Normally, after dopamine is released into the synaptic cleft, it binds to dopamine receptors on the postsynaptic neuron to exert its effects.
The DAT then clears the dopamine from the synapse and recycles it back into the presynaptic neuron.
So it helps to terminate the action of dopamine by transporting it back into the presynaptic neuron.
So when we inhibit it, we slow down the cleanup of dopamine and leave more of the chemical active in the synapses.
Ritalin for example is a highly effective DAT inhibitor.
Its structural mechanism differs completely from zinc obviously.
While zinc acts as a non-competitive, allosteric clamp that locks the transporter from a side-pocket, methylphenidate operates primarily as an orthosteric blocker.
It targets the S1 central binding site of the dopamine transporter.
This is the exact same internal structural pocket where the dopamine molecule itself lands to be moved across the membrane.
By sitting directly inside the central channel core, it acts like a physical plug and thus dopamine cannot bind to the transporter at all.
Now unlike competitive inhibitors (such as cocaine or Ritalin), which bind directly to the central S1 substrate site halfway across the cell membrane, zinc acts at an entirely independent allosteric site on the outer surface of the transporter.
By anchoring itself to this distinct outer pocket, zinc physically restrains the movement of the transporter.
It acts as a rigid macromolecular bridge that locks the DAT machinery in an "outward-open" conformation.
While the central channel remains open, the transporter is effectively paralyzed, it can no longer undergo the conformational rotation required to pull dopamine out of the synapse and back into the cell.
For someone struggling with ADHD or anhedonia, this highly efficient, non-competitive blocking action provides a unique therapeutic advantage.
Because zinc does not compete for the central keyhole, its ability to stop the cellular "vacuum cleaner" cannot be overridden by fluctuating concentrations of natural dopamine.
It forces a baseline level of dopamine to pool within the synaptic cleft.
This is why DAT inhibitors usually increase the effectiveness of stimulants.
In the context of ADHD, this prolonged synaptic activity helps satisfy under-stimulated reward pathways.
In the case of anhedonia this steady accumulation of active dopamine lowers the activation threshold required to feel pleasure, motivation and goal-directed drive.
Other natural DAT inhibitors that you might be aware of are ginkgo and saffron.
P.S: In general, if you have difficulty initiating and maintaining actions that require a fair amount of effort, you can try pairing:
-A releaser or release-enhancing agent that raises the amount of dopamine available extracellularly.
-A DAT inhibitor that blocks reuptake, prolonging and amplifying that signal
-A NET inhibitor that supports prefrontal functions needed to stick with an action.
A classic combination would be thiamine or L tyrosine + zinc or ginkgo+ P5P + saffron.
Is this for everyone? No.
For some people, it won't be enough.
For others, it will cause borderline hypomania.
For others, it will cause profound diarrhea.

THE ORGAN THAT MAKES YOU AGE 2X FASTER (BUT NOBODY PROTECTS IT)
1. The pancreas - the main organ of longevity. Not the heart, not the brain, not even the liver.
2. The most harmful for it is not sugar or alcohol. But chaotic eating, coffee on an empty stomach, constant snacking, and stress.
3. The pancreas doesn’t like products, it likes stability. A warm, hearty breakfast, 3–4 hours between meals, minimum evening rush.
One of the best ways to reset it gentle intermittent fasting. Not starvation, but 12–14 hours without food overnight. Water on an empty stomach in the morning, warm food without scrolling the phone.
Dr. Greger recommends sticking to vitamin C–rich whole foods, such as citrus, strawberries, bell peppers, and broccoli.
There’s more to pain relief than pills. How Not to Hurt will be released on December 15, but you can preorder it now at https://t.co/FOLc5clg4o.
"I don't have a GPU" is officially dead 🤯
You can now run 70B model on a single 4GB GPU and it even scales up to the colossal Llama 3.1 405B on just 8GB of VRAM.
AirLLM uses "Layer-wise Inference." Instead of loading the whole model, it loads, computes, and flushes one layer at a time
→ No quantization needed by default
→ Supports Llama, Qwen, and Mistral
→ Works on Linux, Windows, and macOS
100% Open Source.

"We... hypothesize that the institution of folic acid fortification may have been wholly or partly responsible for the observed increase in CRC rates in the mid-1990s"

holy mother of biological acceleration
the first human data on partial epigenetic reprogramming is out
life biosciences just reported interim results for ER-100: one injection into the eye, then 56 days of doxycycline to switch on 3 genes meant to restore youthful gene expression
glaucoma patients, early readout:
- 3 treated, all 3 tolerated it through day 56
- no serious adverse events
- 2 showed preliminary improvement on visual-field tests
- the safety board cleared a 3x higher dose
of course not proof of anything yet
but a therapy built to restore youthful gene expression is in human eyes, and the safety board just cleared a higher dose

BREAKING: Scientists confirm that low iron directly reduces the brain's ability to produce dopamine — because iron is a required cofactor in the process.
Low ferritin shows up consistently in both ADHD and autism. And it's a level almost nobody thinks to check.1/7
@IgorNaverniouk@AmericanFietser The point is people don't realize the damage to their car wipes away any profit they make from the gig.
It's exploitation. Why kiss ass to companies that exploit workers?
@rajmichaelsfit Prepped meals ahead of time for the week. Knew exactly how much I was eating each week and didn't have to think about it. Fat melted off after that.
