Comparing yourself to others makes a screenwriting career miserable.
There is ALWAYS someone doing better than you, and it’s usually plastered on a billboard or a bus driving by.
Shifting this mentality is not just the key to a better life, it produces better work, too.
What matters is not education or money, but your persistence and the intensity of your desire to learn; that failures, mistakes, and conflicts are often the best education of all; and how true creativity and mastery emerge from all this.
"But I'm not an expert yet."
Nobody is on day one. The way people become experts is by publishing their confusion in public until it turns into clarity. You don't wait for expertise. You write your way to it and document the process.
@writerrthompson Oh, yes. If you start watching, they show you more and more working writers, producers, etc. Watch, then look up their credits. Amazing leads. Some people like Linked In. Good luck!
I like variety. Forcing a single focus kills the ideas. Everything starts feeling forced.
Turns out a lot of the most original work comes from people who keep moving between different things. Still learning how to work with that instead of against it.

@CindyBegel I had no idea there was a screenwriting community on Tik Tok. I’ve never been too active on social media so I’m stepping that up. Thank you for your reply, every bit of info helps me grow! 🙏
@writerrthompson I think you should keep your goal because there are people doing these jobs. But I also think you should be aware of all industry changes. Read the trades, Ankler Podcast, TikTok screenwriting community. Your own due diligence.
