How to analyze ad performance using Meta's actual metrics:
Find these metrics in Ads Manager → Video Engagement:
→ 3-Second Video Plays
→ ThruPlays (watched 15+ seconds)
→ Average Play Time
Simple diagnosis:
Look at 3-sec plays vs ThruPlays:
→ Lots of 3-sec, few ThruPlays = hook works, content doesn't
→ Both high = winner
→ Both low = redo everything
Look at Average Play Time:
→ Under 3 seconds = bad hook
→ 3-8 seconds = lost them in middle
→ 8+ seconds = they're interested
Cross-check with results:
→ Good video metrics + bad CTR = weak CTA
→ Good CTR + bad conversions = landing page problem
→ Everything good = scale it
Example:
Ad A: 1000 people watched 3 sec, 100 watched full video
Ad B: 500 people watched 3 sec, 200 watched full video
Ad B is better - it holds attention.
Quality beats quantity.
The simple rule:
If ThruPlays ÷ 3-sec plays =
→ Above 20% = good video
→ Below 10% = fix it
That's it. Don't overcomplicate.
Find where people drop off, fix that part.

We’re building a software MVP using Lovable, and we’re stuck.
