When quoting dialogue or conversation, each person's words, no matter how brief, are placed in a separate paragraph, with quotation marks at the beginning and the end of each person's speech:

"Yes."
"When?"
"Thursday."
Many writers learned to never split infinitives.
AP style advises that in many cases, splitting the infinitive or compound forms of a verb is necessary to convey meaning and make a sentence easy to read. Such constructions are acceptable.
