Path forward: "Instead of defending a system that has been rejected, we need to articulate an alternative vision for what kind of democracy comes next."

This is the second thing today that is totally floored me. I cannot believe what is happening in our country🫣
The Trump administration planned to classify 2.7 million living individuals as deceased in federal records as part of an aggressive immigration enforcement strategy, according to a June 2026 whistleblower disclosure. Reports first published by The Washington Post reveal that the plan was never fully implemented due to internal resistance from career officials. However, it has triggered intense congressional scrutiny regarding the weaponization of federal databases.
The Whistleblower Disclosure
The 49-page complaint was filed by Jeremiah Schofield, a 25-year veteran and former senior Information Technology executive at the Social Security Administration (SSA). The Core Allegation Schofield stated that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), collaborating with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), pressured the SSA to classify a massive list of 2.7 million individuals as deceased. The Findings Schofield audited a random sample of 25 names from the list and discovered that 100% of those sampled were alive. Many were U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, teenagers, and senior citizens.
The Refusal Schofield and SSA agency lawyers refused to implement the mass directive. Lawyers explicitly warned that knowingly entering false death records into federal databases violates federal law.
Purpose of the Plan The disclosure indicates that the initiative aimed to encourage "self-deportation" or trap individuals
1.Economic Strangulation
Adding living individuals to the SSA's Death Master File immediately freezes bank accounts, halts wages, cancels lines of credit, and terminates federal benefits.
2.The Arrest Strategy Whistleblower logs suggest that administration officials intended to make targeted immigrants financially miserable, compelling them to either flee the country voluntarily or visit local Social Security field offices to correct the error, where waiting immigration enforcement officers could arrest them.
Smaller Scale Implementation Although the 2.7 million-person expansion was blocked, the report revealed a smaller pilot version occurred. In April 2025, the administration directed the SSA to mark roughly 6,100 legally present immigrants as deceased. These individuals had their Social Security numbers canceled and lost access to basic financial systems before appearing at local field offices to prove they were still alive.
Responses and Investigations
Social Security Administration
An SSA spokesperson formally denied that 2.7 million names were ever added to the database, asserting that the agency maintains strict internal data integrity controls.Department of Homeland Security A DHS spokesperson did not deny the specific initiative but defended robust enforcement measures.
Rep. Byron Donalds R-FL still has not explained how he voted on the House floor in Feb. 2025 while he was in Los Angeles for the Bill Maher show. Someone voted for Donalds twice that day - another Florida Republican perhaps used his voting card?
Dear @SecRollins: You lie. The average life cycle of a Screwworm ranges from 14 to 54 days depending on temperature and humidity.
The trump Administration has been in office over 500 days.
If you can’t accept responsibility, or even apologize for messing up, you need to resign.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the extraordinary outbursts of the President of the United States against female journalists... well, actually against journalists in general and journalism. But it feels like he saves his most childlike behavior and irrational language for female reporters, calling them all kinds of names that kids in kindergarten are given times out for. It’s stunning to me to witness such behavior from any leader, any CEO, any person of influence or importance. I’ve never witnessed someone like this raging, this weekend with @meetthepress host @kwelkernbc, just last week in the Oval Office with @cnn’s @kaitlancollins, calling women stupid or piggy, telling them to “smile”, calling them darling, demeaning their credibility. Every good man should denounce this behavior. Every person should be able to stand up for their colleagues and say “No more.”
Imagine this man screaming like this at your daughter, your wife, your sister, your mother... would you stand for it? No, you wouldn’t! And neither should any of us. It’s unacceptable and undignified. Period. End of story.
From the Texas Tribune:
After Mexican officials confirmed case of screwworm in Nov. 2024, USDA, under Joe Biden, closed southern ports of entry to live cattle imports to prevent spread of screwworm into U.S. Move also strained supply of cattle in Texas....
USDA reversed course in Feb 2025, after Trump took office, announcing opening of ports"
This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

@DemocraticWins Once the short-timers *finally* speak up, they might find that they could have won their primaries had they only shone some spine before now. I guess we'll never know.
The DOJ has dropped 23,000 criminal cases — including hundreds of investigations into terrorism, white-collar crime and drugs — while prosecuting 32,000 new immigration cases in just the first six months of Trump’s second term.

How did Donald Trump give himself, his family, and their businesses a Super Pardon for all their crimes, back taxes, fines, and other payments due to the federal government?
Meet Todd Blanche, Trump’s personal criminal defense lawyer now assigned to the Department of Justice, who gave his boss and former client, Donald Trump, a family-sized stack of get-out-of-jail-free cards.
Donald Trump had over 3,700 stock transactions since the war in Iran started, and he profited over 220 million dollars. Don't tell me how he "donates his presidential salary" ever again you stupid fucking MAGAs
Instead of just asking "is Pulte qualified to be DNI?" Can I suggest reporters just READ THE FUCKING STATUTE TO REPUBLICANS, WHICH EXPLICITLY REQUIRES (SHALL, NOT MAY!) THE PERSON TO HAVE "EXTENSIVE NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERTISE."
HOLY CRAP 🚨🚨
Albania’s anti-corruption prosecutors just froze Kushner’s dirty assets in the $4 billion resort fraud probe.
The jewish-linked land grab on the Albanian coast is collapsing under fraud investigations and furious public protests.
Imagine if a woman president crashed the economy and started a war with no end in sight, and her biggest, seemingly ONLY concern was building a ballroom and redecorating the White House.
🚨🇦🇱JUST IN: More than 100,000 citizens are protesting in Tirana, Albania, against the controversial resort project linked to Trump-Kushner, which is planned to be built in the south of Albania.
⚡️The project has received approval from the Albanian government, but the protesters are demanding its cancellation over its suspicious offshore financing, as the project would destroy the ecosystem in a protected area and landscape
