"The stories are absolutely harrowing… [UNWRA] staff members saying, 'We are just eating animal fodder to keep us alive.'" @UNLazzarini gives a stark account of the suffering in Gaza: "If we keep people being starved in Gaza, it can only deepen resentment and fuel extremism."
I CANT MAKE THIS ISH UP!
The Ford govt has just said that RENT CONTROL is HARMFUL for tenants!
What world is Ford govt living in?! One things for sure, they are NOT in Ontario with the rest of us.
Their callous housing policy decisions literally ENCOURAGE homelessness! #Bill48
“It’s an incredible realm of untapped opportunities for justice.”
@FranceskAlbs calls out the sale of illegal settlements in Canada and points to🇨🇦pensions, charities & banks, that will be part of her next report.

Have I ever told you that @Mivasair is one of my favourite people in the world?
When I lost my job due to my advocacy on Palestine, it was this Jewish Rabbi who single handedly, with such wisdom and care, helped me climb out of that dark place I was in and gather the courage to keep fighting.
I remember saying to him “I feel like an imposter, how can I continue my work speaking as an academic if my title as a Professor has been taken away?”
His response: “Sabreena, we’ve worked together for a while, but I couldn’t honestly tell you which institution you belonged to, because I, like so many others, follow you for your powerful public scholarship, voice and writing.
You don’t need an institution or a title because you are the institution and you are the title.
And come on, isn’t decolonizing from oppressive colonial systems and empowering ourselves what you always talk about?”
And then he shared a Jewish proverb as a prayer with me:
“Let your ears hear what your mouth speaks”.
And that’s all it took to remind me of who I am.
So much love for this beautiful man with such nur (light) on his face who continues to show up for truth and justice and humanity.
Female students at a medical school in Afghanistan’s Kapisa province weep as a man announces that they are no longer allowed to continue their studies. The Taliban’s new order bans women from medical education, closing the last remaining institutions where women can learn.
After years of the families pushing for action, the landfill search for the remains of two First Nation women who were killed by a Winnipeg serial killer began on Monday.
Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew spoke to media about the search.
Timely reminder that starving a population is not self defence, kidnapping, torturing, killing people and destroying their homes is not self defence, blocking anaesthetics from reaching a people you maim is not self defence.
all I can say is, you and me are one bad unforeseen circumstance away from being in their shoes.
I see myself in every human struggling to exist under the crushing weight of capitalism. (8/8
Extraordinarily—and unfortunately—refreshing to read a thoughtful, rigorous, and racially literate investigation into anti-Black and anti-Palestinian racism in Canadian legal education.

"this is not the end...we have to regroup and we have to continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out to create the better society for our children...that we know is possible."
For those who wondered how American society allowed the sins of our past, realize that tonight Trump won the majority in spite of his lack of character and integrity. He demonstrated his racism, misogyny, xenophobia and tried to overthrow the government with an insurrection with any accountability or consequence. He is celebrated for his strategy of packing the court that will ultimately give him immunity and throw out his convictions. His indictments will disappear. This says everything about our society. We absolved this behavior by electing him. A celebration of criminality.
Yet another incident of police violence against Indigenous in Canada. Monday morning twin brothers Joshua and Garrett Papigatuk were shot by Nunavik Police Service in Salluit, Quebec. They were unarmed.
Joshua is dead. Garrett was medivaced out in serious condition. Community members protested in Salluit yesterday denouncing the killings. There is an epidemic of systemic violence via police/RCMP in this country that is largely unchecked.
