I am revisiting The Mahabharat after years.
In this thread, I will share everything I found interesting and worth pondering over. It's like making personal notes, but I'll put them here in case it helps someone else too. Here we go: 🧵
Couldn't find the work I was excited about. So I decided to write it. Three scripts.
An action, a romance, a comedy. All finished.
Now the hard part. Finding the right people to build them with.
Meanwhile, idea number four is already refusing to leave me alone.
I still play out scenarios sometimes.
What if I had acted on
that divine feeling?
What if I had taken that journey?
What would it have been like to
meet her in flesh & blood?
To share a life with a girl
who was a manifestation
of a million dreams.
I'll never know.
(11/11)
She began to call me her 'sukoon'. Her inner peace.
I called her my 'long distance soulmate.'
She was an overnight
bus ride away.
A 15 hour train journey away.
One hour twenty minutes
flight away.
A journey I should have taken.
A journey I never took.
(5/11)
I smiled.
Gave her my wishes.
It was now forbidden to talk about the childlike honesty in her smile.
Someone else is her sukoon now.
Gosh. I should have taken that journey.
(10/11)
'There's childlike honesty in your smile,' she replied. Finally.
Basic questions were asked later. We first discussed regrets, trauma, food, intimacy and love.
No numbers exchanged yet.
Just a conversation with a girl who felt like manifestation of a million dreams.

This was before reels
were a thing.
When Insta was just pictures you carefully zoomed in and out without liking.
I was addicted to the app.
I was lonely.
And somewhere in
that loneliness..
I found her.
The girl who was a manifestation of a million dreams.

'I felt connected when I saw your picture' was how I opened the conversation.
I was being honest.
Wasn't flirting.
She saw the text.
Didn't reply for three hours.
I've never refreshed Insta chat
as much as I did that day.
(3/11)
It was a lonely night when I stumbled upon her picture.
Impulsively liked it.
Impulsively followed her.
I woke up late the next morning.
Stopped brushing my teeth midway when I noticed she had followed me back.
That's how our story began...
(2/11)
This moment was one year before our relationship suddenly ended.
She said something that day that I still carry with me... many years after we became strangers.

Whenever I spiral into the would haves and could haves of life.
Whenever I start building that other life in my head... the one that didn't happen.
I breathe.
And I tell myself what she told me at that bus stop. (9/10)
