@wenkanny My overall point as that misogyny towards the female characters in the show AND in Will’s storyline can coexist, I never tried to prop one up over the other
@wenkanny The link to the exploitative tears post: https://t.co/iSNMOjffNr
Also I wasn’t referring to this type of misogyny in the show, I was referring to how milevens blatantly ignore the misogynistic writing of El’s character for the sake of their ship. I would never downplay Kali & El
Will could walk past Mike and some of yall would consider that him trying to flirt. The real question is how little faith do you have in Mike for his eyes not to wander
Genuinely how did El know what the kiss implied in season 1. Like yes she prob assumed it was a positive thing bc it differentiated her relationship with Mike from the other boys, but how did she know that it implied a romantic relationship
The damsel in distress trope, on-screen assault as shock value, forgiving the abuser, exploitative tears. All of these things that are usually applied to women in media are applied to Will for a reason. + misogyny and homophobia go together hand in hand
@dancintilldead@dufferbrothers_ If jopper was queer, Hopperella would be moping around in Montauk by himself as we speak. The duffers just hate the gays
@tomiokaswifey21 I think it was either a misunderstanding across the departments so some dropped queer hints while others did the opposite (which is possible w how Netflix handles productions) OR byler fell victim to the erasure of queer media after Trump’s presidency. OR the duffers are bitches
