@DamCou Have a similar thing where people say "we would recommend" when the recommendation is not conditional on anything.
It sounds more professional than just "we recommend" but adds nothing and, of anything, detracts.
@annaturley "Tax break" is just ridiculous language and you know it. A break is where tax would normally otherwise be due, but is relieved.
Institutional education isn't usually VATable (other schools, universities etc). So private schools weren't getting a tax break.
In response to MPs reintroducing the deadly Assisted Dying Bill, Archbishop John Wilson said:
“Assisted suicide has no place in a civilised society. It violates the God-given dignity of human life and puts the vulnerable – especially elderly and disabled people – in grave danger.
“As followers of the Lord Jesus, we have a duty to speak out and to act when the lives of so many people are at risk. That is why I urge Catholics to pray and to campaign to stop this deadly bill from becoming law”

@wallaceme Rather like HMRC closing phone lines in recent years to stop being chased.
That levelled the playing field, but only to the extent it removed the one mechanism of accountability that was available, so now everyone is served equally poorly.
@CptHastings1916 In fairness, I think there are Labour folk who are of the quietly patriotic sort, but end up doing the flag-waving etc because they feel they have to demonstate it overtly.
@CptHastings1916 The left so often mistake the symptoms of patriotism for the underlying condition.
And I doubt it ever actually works. People in Middle England who are quietly patriotic but don't go in for flag-waving will recognise when Labour do the opposite.
For every retweet of this post, I will donate £1 to the @VC_and_GC_Assoc up to £50,000.
Time is running out following @I_W_M’s decision to close the Lord Ashcroft Gallery.
Visit while you still can, to honour the bravery of those who risked so much to protect our great nation.
@yuanyi_z And Deloitte UK had her come and speak to their staff around 2020, presumably paying for the privilege.
Her grift is a lucrative one (and let's be honest, will probably remain one even after this Tweet).
@_Chris_Coghlan If Catholicism has *any* impact on your life whatsoever, it should be as a lived morality.
Why on earth would your moral grounding have zero relevance to a life of public service?
@_Chris_Coghlan Also interested in how your moral outrage at being called out in a few local masses justifies getting your parish priest's face printed all over national media as revenge?
@_Chris_Coghlan Not being permitted to receive communion sucks, but rushing to the media rather supports the argument that you're "obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin", doesn't it?
Also as a public figure voting on matters of importance, being called out shouldsht come as a surprise?
