@EricLDaugh@grok, how does this coincide with the administration proposing to roll back rules on forever chemicals induced into water supplies from coal power plants?
Just an initial thought as this whole Venezuela thing unfolds. Maduro wanted out. It seems, based on some reports, that he was already discussing an exit with the US. The fact that he and his wife left together in what is being portrayed as a forced removal from power. He will disappear into history and live out his life well funded by US tax payers.
This is not a war with Venezuela. No more bombs will be dropped. The people of that country are celebrating their independence from almost thirty years of dictatorship and socialism. Relations will be normalized, oil companies will be brought in immediately to start getting all that oil on the market. The woman who supposedly won the election will take over.
Oh and speaking of the oil. Fun fact. Venezuelan oil is heavy crude, which is the same type we have been bringing in from the Canadian shale fields. Our infrastructure is designed to refine it. This was a strategic move to keep China, Russia, India and Iran away from it and limit their influence in our hemisphere. It is extremely close, in global distance, to our refineries. Capitalism will once again flood into that country and its resources will be brought to market. You will be able to vacation there soon. This was a free, capitalist country just 30 years ago. The third richest in the world. I’m not happy that we’re still doing regime change but I am happy to see all those people get a chance in life.
Up next, Iran? Cuba for sure. Both those countries have suffered under authoritarian regimes. The people there deserve a break.
@AOC And how do the “benefits” get paid for? By the government taxing and borrowing from the citizens so you can pay off the insurance companies and lobbyists.
@NickAdamsinUSA It’s not about any of this. It’s about ownership. Currently no one who pays any type of property actually owns their home. It can be taken at any time by any number of local or state governments if the taxes aren’t paid. Elimination means true ownership
@GovernorShapiro How about just eliminate property taxes and then people can will have funds to make repairs and actually own their home, not just rent it from the school district.
@BernieSanders Who’s paying for this tour of yours? Why is a senator from Vermont putting on a show in Texas and other states during a non election cycle?
@GovernorShapiro This does nothing but help the government collect more taxes from individuals and businesses. It also increases inflation since you’re setting an artificial floor for wages.
@catturd2 Trump promised draining the swamp and cutting waste and fraud. He’s doing none of that. Nothing else matters is federal government spending continues to increase by two trillion borrowed dollars every year.
