The macOS Ventura installer should turn off scheduled shutdown so you aren't stuck using Terminal to manage a thing that's no longer supported in the Energy Saver UI.
With one week left in our security key giveaway, we've decided to open up eligibility to any existing PyPI user.

Popular Science managed to publish an article about wildfires that start when a bird catches fire on an electrical line… and manages to *blame the birds*: “when a bird…manages to electrocute itself” and “fires caused by birds”. https://t.co/utfG2IRXEh
I wonder if anyone can tell me how to "Enable Mouse Keys" in macOS… without using a mouse. I used to do it a very long time ago, seems (ironically) impossible now.
Noteworthy this about this HomePod timer bug is that HomePod is not unable to talk to the Internet; other queries work fine. Seems more like a example of someone should have written some automated tests. This has been a problem since at least 2019: https://t.co/xd1zxYEVe6
Common HomePod interaction of late:
Hey Siri, can you set a timer?
How long?
5 minutes
…Hrm…this is taking a while…I didn’t hear back
HEAR BACK FROM WHOM SIRI? THE TIMER POLICE? MY TIMER BANK? TELL ME.
@dlamac More likely, someone decided that the benefits to public health are no longer enough to justify the economic and social impact, which is a decision that has to come eventually. It’s fair to disagree that it is time… but not to cast the calculus as convenience vs. public health.
@glyph Easier: never use Venmo, or any payment system that tells your “friends” when you send money. I’d add “without asking you first” but, like, ever. Just don’t.
@apple I do love the looooonger battery life on my iPhone (and new MacBook Pro). How about a Watch battery that can last over the weekend? No other new features, I’ll buy it. kthxbye
