Extending the tax audit due date is the right thing for the @IncomeTaxIndia to do.

After the 31st August deadline for non audit cases, tax professionals/taxpayers are left with barely one month to complete thousands of tax audits. Practically, completing quality audits within this timeframe is extremely challenging.

Moreover, extending the tax audit deadline by one month should not impact Government revenue, since the ITR filing deadline is already 31st October.

But the extension must be announced well in advance. A last minute extension will not provide the intended relief, as professionals & taxpayers will already have planned their work around the existing deadline.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Dear @IncomeTaxIndia @FinMinIndia,

Kindly provide a reasonable timeline for Tax Audit.

Earlier, there was a 2-month gap between the Non-Audit ITR due date and the Tax Audit due date. After shifting the Non-Audit ITR due date, this gap has now been reduced to just 1 month.

September also has several festivals, holidays which naturally reduce the working capacity of businesses, accountants and CA firms during this period.

Completing Tax Audits within such a compressed timeline, while maintaining the required quality and compliance standards, becomes extremely difficult.

Hence, I request @IncomeTaxIndia and @FinMinIndia to permanently shift the Tax Audit due date to 31st October.

A reasonable statutory gap will allow professionals and taxpayers to complete audits properly, rather than simply rushing to meet a deadline.

Dear @IncomeTaxIndia

Extend the Tax Audit Due Date to 31st October permanently.

No one requested extensions to the ITR deadlines beyond 31 July, as sufficient time remained.

However, expecting Chartered Accountants to complete Tax Audits within a single month is largely impractical. Conducting an audit requires verification, review, and reporting, rather than rushed procedures. As the deadline for Income Tax Return submissions approaches, it is advisable for the government to consider extending the Tax Audit deadline to 31 October permanently.

Ensuring quality compliance requires adequate time.
