It's free, open-source, and available across platforms.
It incorporates the latest innovations in both data formats and web mapping tech.
It's the best example of "modern software" I've seen in the post-LLM world. This is industry-changing stuff.
If you are technical, there are a couple paths you can take given the rapid pace of technological change.
You can either throw your hands up and feel defeated about the commoditization of your skills.
Or, you can choose to build on your skills and take on more ambitious projects than you ever thought possible.
Dr. Wu's work should inspire you to choose the latter.
The danger of selling to big companies, if you're a startup, is that they don't say no outright. They have months of meetings with you first. Since you hate meetings, that seems to you a sign of commitment. But it's not. They love having meetings! It's almost all they do.
I've spent the past few days on this project. The most challenging aspect was determining how to mimic the taxi fleet scheduling, seat availability, and varying route traffic conditions without exceeding the daily limit triggers in the live demonstration.
