@russ_hjelm @TimAAmor In fairness, we can’t really assume anyone’s motivation(s) for looking back—especially if the assumption is that doing so is akin to disobedience or sin.
Healing is hardly linear, often takes steps in multiple directions, and can last a lifetime.
@MissionaryUS1 Real Christ-like—I’m sure whatever version of Jesus you worship is clapping, slapping his sides, and crying with pride over your behavior 🤡
Reminder: it’s the mark of immaturity to deflect and respond with logical fallacies when you can’t rebut someone.
Jesus still loves you.
@natgrace79 Extremists on both sides *may* never engage in good faith, but we have to avoid painting with broad strokes.
Algorithms only contribute to us thinking everyone who disagrees is an extremist with evil intentions.
Nuance isn’t centrism.
It’s an act of love and charity.
@natgrace79 I’m concerned by those who say this is for naught; because however unintentional, it automatically sets them above another and makes it a me vs. you scenario.
Lots of folks don’t see they’re using the same tactics as those they disagree with—different words, same approach…
Addendum:
This applies beyond politics, which I didn’t have specifically in mind when writing this.
Also, the “ThEy DoNt ReAd ThEiR BiBlE” take is simplistic.
Lots of folks read their Bible with an interpretive lens that does violence to the text—and by extension, people.
...weep with those who weep... (Romans 12:15b)
Nowhere does it say to:
Invalidate the one weeping...
Subjugate the one weeping…
Dismiss the one weeping...
Destroy the one weeping...
Mock the one weeping…
@JoashPThomas I’m shocked at the number of Hispanic men that voted for him; at the same time, ingrained patriarchy (and by default, misogyny) runs deep.
I don’t think they were going to vote for a woman—especially a woman with brown skin who resembled their mothers, wives, and daughters.
