@JosiahHawthorne Certainly your interpretation of what the passage saysโclarifying it in ways that resonate.
I try to sneak as much straight Bible quotes into everything I post anyways.
The closer to Jesus the more likely to be called a heretic.
It is through Jesus that we understand the Scriptures more fully.
Jesus is the fullest revelation of God. No-one has ever seen God, but Christ who is himself God has made him known. It is through Christ that we most fully discover what God is like.

@theshepherd2018@TimAAmor Thereโs no world in which the adjective โChristianโ can effectively modify a noun like โnationalistโ while also referring to following Jesus of Nazareth.
Itโs sorta like how awesome/awful & terrific/terrifying used to be synonyms til they grew to mean somethin totally different.
โChristianโ as a term has become entirely void of any meaningful connection to knowing and following Jesus.
And, honestly, itโs been that way for a long time.
I think itโs fair to say that for much of Christianity today, reading our Bibles and praying everyday has not resulted in us grow, grow, grow-ing in the love of Jesus.
The reign of Christians has most often resulted in the martyrdom of those who follow Christ.
All while calling them โhereticsโ for insisting upon the Jesus way.

@ParchAled I think inactive individualism is practicedโฆ whereas we see called to be a community that follow Jesus togetherโloving as Jesus loves.
Read your Bible and pray everyday sounds good, but itโs not what Jesus embodied nor what He calls us to.
