Shohei Ohtani has reached base 4 times in 4 plate appearances tonight.
He has allowed one baserunner in 5 innings on the mound.
Ohtani is hitting .300 with a .940 OPS.
He is yielding a 0.75 ERA.
Might as well start engraving that MVP trophy now.
Dodgers 5, Diamondbacks 0 (6)
@Bravesguy23 No they wouldn’t. You do understand the dodgers are a strawman right? Why not be outraged equally by the Mets? Were you enraged by the Ohtani rule when he was in Anaheim?
@BizballMaury@DodgerBlue1958 Of course not. I’ve seen folks defending the cap as a way to get more money to players as if capping labor will ever have that effect. As more and more folks look to sell to PE implementing a cap is a good way to increase EV. Neither side cares about competitive balance either
He’s right. And wow has that proven out today where he’s been bad both ends. Wemby definitely has bad nights on offense - positioning etc is what you’d expect from a 22 year old. It will come.
Robert Horry on Wemby:
“I’m not saying he’s not great, he’s a great defensive player, but they trying to make him the be all now. Like he is God’s gift to basketball… Give him time. Let him mature… Don’t give it to him. Let him take it.”

@laking2224 look I feel bad for Eric b/c on some level he never shook that Jonathan Bender news, but I do think its a reasonable conclusion. Lakers are in an odd spot this summer
@mattinfwNFL@ChadMoriyama Not what he said at all. His point is / was the owners are even greedier and do not give 2 shits about you or competitive balance. It just so happens that you want a cap and they do too albeit for wildly different reasons. It’s an alignment of coincidence. Not shared values
@StatsFarm@MooneyOwnsYou@TurkStevens Well 1) there’s not going to be a cap (let’s be honest) and 2) when / if a season is cancelled it will be ownerships fault.
Now - you may want a cap for competitive reasons. I totally get that. But the owners do not care about your reason, they’re falsely claiming that
@StatsFarm@MooneyOwnsYou@TurkStevens They are far greedier and this is solely about fixing costs, crushing the union and increasing franchise values so that many of these guys can sell to PE. That’s going to become clearer and clearer so I’m saying this pro billionaire rhetoric won’t last
The thing nobody wants to get around is if they cared so much about competitive balance, they could implement and/or enforce the soft floor like they have the soft cap, but what they really want is controlled expenses for franchise valuation.
@ThomasKelsey@StatsFarm@TurkStevens Eventually this will flip on the owners. They’re the ones cancelling games. It’s all well and good now but that won’t be the case in April
