It is important to understand the dual nature of spirituality and religion to best serve clients whose concerns or ways of coping may intersect with these areas, writes Walaa Taha, @wtaha__, graduate student at @UCalgary. https://t.co/Mgae9FGd3r
“The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy are just like one body. When any part of the body suffers, the whole body feels pain” - Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
I feel the injustice, and I just can’t imagine what my Black brothers and sisters are going through 😞
Said to me by white male attendings:
At a med school interview: "I just don't see you becoming a surgeon."
At a residency interview: "Surgery has historically been made up of white males...so how do you think you'll fit in here?"
Make room. #BlackintheIvory
The Shukri Abdi case is absolutely mind blowing because you have a case where a little muslim black girl was killed by her classmates, someone witnessed it & came forward, her body had bite marks, the same killers tried to kill her before, yet it’s ruled an “accident” and buried.
