The media's treatment of Messi compared to Ronaldo is one of the biggest examples of football bias.
Messi is constantly portrayed as a flawless footballing god, while Ronaldo has spent his career fighting narratives designed to undermine him.
Now, the media would have you believe Messi holds the record for the most assists in a single European season, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan's 2015/16 season at Dortmund gets overlooked. And in 2025/26, Michael Olise supposedly surpassed that benchmark with 40 assists, including seven at the World Cup.
Yet somehow, the narrative always circles back to Messi. His flaws get glossed over, his achievements get amplified, and other players' accomplishments get ignored.
That's the problem with the Messi propaganda machine. Ronaldo has never enjoyed the same protection from the media.
