Went to watch "Obsession" and here are my 2 cents on it.
First insta created a wrong impression about the characters.
Nikki was weird as fuck.
I felt so bad for Bear. They portrayed him as a villain on insta which is not true in my opinion . It was a weird movie but different.
obsession is the kind of horror i wish i never saw. it problematizes the mundanity of everyday violence that everybody goes thru at some point and it's so painful to watch that i got heart palpitations. the long monologues (brother, nothing) gave me chills down my spine
OBSESSION was so disturbing and uncomfortable because the casual selfishness of a man is a terrifying thing. Even a man you trust, even a man you think is your friend, you have no idea what autonomy they would steal from you if given the chance and that's horrifying
“Kill me, please. she’s sleeping…it’s me. please don’t wake her up. just kill me. I’ve never been with you, bear…just kill me please.”
this scene is so heartbreaking and gave me instant chills
the way bear treats post-wish nikki is so eerily similar to how certain men who pull their “dream girl” will treat her once the novelty wears off and they realize she’s just a flawed human like anyone else. the fantasy is over, so they’re bored, irritated, and their eye wanders.
