TONIGHT (& tomorrow & Sunday): Alexandre O. Philippe's new film essay LYNCH/OZ, about the enduring influence of The Wizard of Oz on David Lynch, runs at 7:30pm! Featuring John Waters, Karyn Kusama, David Lowery as commentators.
TONIGHT: We have the 2021 Alexandre O. Philippe doc, THE TAKING, in advance of Philippe's new film, Lynch/Oz, playing this weekend! The Taking looks at Monument Valley's place amongst America's symbolic locations--you know it from John Ford movies, but it's so much more. 7:30pm.
TONIGHT (& tomorrow & Sunday): We're celebrating the 50th anniversary of British folk horror classic THE WICKER MAN by showing its new 4K restoration at 7:30pm! @Webster_SOC Associate Dean (and Grave Tales professor) Aaron AuBuchon introduces tonight (Friday) only.
COMING SOON: We are thrilled to have booked the Silver Bear-winning AFIRE, from director Christian Petzold (Barbara, Phoenix, Transit), in an unprecedented-for-us two week run! It will open August 4 and play at 7:30pm every night through August 17.

TONIGHT (& tomorrow & Sunday): We are very excited to run the new 4K restoration of Béla Tarr’s 2000 feature Werckmeister Harmonies, which we have been looking forward to since it was announced! Showtime 7:30pm, with just one one-minute trailer running prior to the film starting.
TONIGHT (& tomorrow & Sunday): We're showing Pierre Földes's new animated feature BLIND WILLOW, SLEEPING WOMAN, based on the short stories of Haruki Murakami! Murakami also wrote the source material for Film Series hits Burning and Drive My Car. Showtime 7:30pm each night.
TONIGHT is closing night of the GAY ASIA program! Last up is Mika Ninagawa's bonkers color bomb HELTER SKELTER in an incredibly rare US screening! Showtime 7:30pm. Stars Erika Sawajiri, with Nao Omori (Ichi the Killer), Lily Franky (Shoplifters), Kiko Mizuhara (Norwegian Wood).

TONIGHT is the encore screening of the GAY ASIA title FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES, which we're screening at 7:30pm! Note that this screening isn't/wasn't on the original materials for Gay Asia; we added it late. Final screening of Funeral Parade, and penultimate Gay Asia overall!
TONIGHT: GAY ASIA continues with a screening of Nagisa Ōshima's 1983 David Bowie vehicle MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE, set in WWII Japan and costarring future director/actor Takeshi Kitano and Ryuichi Sakamoto, RIP, who also wrote the film's score. Showtime 7:30pm, no trailers.
