Completed a review-article of "Wales in England, 1914-1945 A Social, Cultural & Military History" (OUP) by @wugolini for the Welsh History Review.
A seminal text. The first book-length study of the Welsh at an all-England level; the first book-length study of the 2nd generation.
@SilenceInPolish @ianpacemain @amwilson_opera@andrewpconnell@OUPMusic Hi Jenny! My book Experiencing War as the 'Enemy Other' outlined how British Italian servicemen who fought in Italy felt a heightened identification with all aspects of Italian culture. Anecdotally, there was wider appreciation of Italian foodstuffs postwar.

Here at Lind and Stein, but his grave and others are visited regularly at Sittard CWGC.

Only 15 years to the centenary of the Second World War in 2039! I hope NZ is not caught short like the main event in 1939 or like the mad rush in the lead in to the centenary of the FWW and cash being splashed willy-nilly. What was the longterm legacy of the WW100 investment? 🤔
Susan Aldworth's poignant art installation presented as part of an exhibition that 'explores how migration stories shape British identity.' Open Monday-Friday, 10.00 – 18.00 from Wednesday 2 October – Friday 8 November 2024, The Arcade, Bush House, King’s College London

Delighted to have been interviewed by Miranda Melcher @NewBooksNetwork about my book 'Wales in England 1914-1945'. We talked about Wales as a site of solace for the 'broken' English soldier & lots more:
