@NYY_Mic@JeffPassanty@CyLiamDoyle Benge leads in:
Batting Average
On-base percentage
Stolen bases
Defensive value (eye test, positional value, and advanced stats all say so)
But sure, Stewart leads "across the board"
Go and ask anyone in an MLB front office whether RBIs are 100% skill. They will laugh at you
@NYY_Mic@JeffPassanty@CyLiamDoyle RBIs are a knock-on side effect of being a good hitter. They are not prima facie evidence of a hitter being good.
Stewart has a .787 OPS. Pretty good.
Benge has a .776 OPS. Pretty good too.
RBIs only say that Sal is luckier/plays in more advantageous conditions
@NYY_Mic@JeffPassanty@CyLiamDoyle You said something that was factually incorrect. Hard to know why anyone should take you seriously when you don't even bother to get your numbers straight.
Defense matters, for the record, and RBIs don't. Sorry.
@atlanticesque I remember seeing a lot of trailers for this back in the day. Somehow it stuck with me, even though I haven't ever heard a soul mention it since. Presumably, everyone involved knew how ephemeral it would be, but still spent $150M on it (and made it back!)
@AdamMantine@StatisticUrban I'm sure all the publicly accessible research that verifies Pangram's work is nothing compared to the article you sorta remember reading 2 years ago
@LRSerling I can't stand when the game is functionally over like 2 terms in because people didn't bother paying attention and made obviously dogshit moves
Then they get mad if someone else continues trying to play
@TerribleMaps The U.S. version is pretty wild too. ๐บ๐ธ๐
Parts of America have climates comparable to places ranging from the Mediterranean and Scandinavia to southern China and the deserts of North Africa.
Basically, the U.S. has a little bit of almost everything.
@SYNESTHEIZURE@cory_fitz This is exactly it. I can usually figure out how each of the wrong answers was meant to trick me, and why the creator wanted me not to pick them
