The U.S. national debt now exceeds $39.835 trillion. The larger the debt grows, the harder it is for the Fed to raise interest rates, but the more important it becomes to raise rates, as the growing debt is what's driving the Fed to create inflation to help finance it. Got gold?
Dems think Trump is far right because they've moved so far left. To the extreme left, even a left-of-center Rep like Trump looks far-right. The question is whether Dems are moving left and pulling Reps left to compete, or Reps are moving left and pushing Dems further left to win.
David Kelly of JPMorgan just told @CNBC that as long as wage gains are slow, the Fed shouldn't act to contain inflation. But inflation that excludes wages makes it an even bigger problem for workers, and therefore heightens the urgency for the Fed to do something to contain it.
The U.S. economy "unexpectedly" lost 23K jobs in July, while June's gain was revised down to a mere 20K. The unemployment rate slipped a bit because more people left the labor force, as the participation rate fell to 61.4%, the lowest in 50 years excluding COVID. Stagflation!
As I've been forecasting, a weak U.S. labor market, already massive and soaring federal debt, and the need to keep Japan from selling Treasuries mean the Fed won't hike rates no matter how far above 2% annual CPI gains rise. Inflation will become a much bigger problem. Got gold?
BREAKING: Tether purchased +14 tonnes of gold in Q2 2026, bringing total holdings to a record 146 tonnes, now worth ~$18.8 billion.
This follows gold purchases of +53 tonnes between Q3 2025 and Q1 2026.
Tether’s gold holdings have more than doubled since Q1 2025, while their value has nearly tripled over the same period.
This makes the company the largest known private holder of gold outside of central banks and governments.
In the first half of 2026, only 4 central banks bought more gold than Tether: Poland, Uzbekistan, China, and Kazakhstan.
Tether is now competing with central banks for gold after the correction.
Copper is trading above $6.70 a pound, hitting a new all-time high. This does not bode well, given the Fed’s decisions not to raise interest rates and to open up the monetary spigots even more to keep Japan from selling Treasuries. Talk is cheap. The Fed can’t afford to act.
My family and I escaped execution in Lebanon because Islam wanted to kill us. My parents were kidnapped by Fatah and were severely mistreated. Our home in Beirut was stolen by Palestinian Muslims. My wife's family escaped Lebanon because Islam wanted to kill them. Her ancestors escaped the Armenian genocide because Islam wanted to kill them. My grandparents escaped Syria because Islam wanted to kill them. My brother-in-law's family escaped Alexandria (Egypt) because Islam wanted to kill them. My family and I are leaving Montreal because Islam wants to kill us (the number of threats that I've received forced me to take a two-year leave from my home university). I'm moving to @olemiss /@umdeclaration to defend American liberties and freedoms from ideological threats. @LibyaLiberty, a vile Islamist who despises Jews, is now "reporting" me to my new institution because I dare criticize Islam. Imagine the chutzpah. I will NEVER stop defending the West from the dangers that it faces. Long live the United States.
BREAKING: Spot gold prices surge above $4,200/oz, hitting the highest level since June 22nd.
Precious metals continue to gain momentum amid mounting inflation and uncertainty.
I’ve been practicing meditation for a long time, and it has easily been one of the most powerful things that’s helped me in my life.
It provides an equanimity—almost like being a ninja. Everything slows down around you, and you are able to deal with whatever comes at you from a place of calm.
More importantly, it opens up a connection between your conscious brain and your subconscious brain. That is where the magic is, because that is where all creativity is trapped. When you quiet your mind and move past the noise, you open up that channel.
It’s a very simple exercise. If you ask me if I would be at the same level of success without it all these years, I don't believe I’d be close.

Milton Friedman on the insidious effects of welfare:
“The people who get on welfare lose their human independence and feeling of dignity. They become subject to the dictates and whims of their welfare supervisor.”
“They’re treated like children, not like responsible adults, and they’re trapped in the system. Maybe a job comes up that looks better than welfare, but they’re afraid to take it because if they lose it after a few months, it may be six months or nine months before they can get back on to welfare.
As a result, this becomes a self-perpetuating cycle, rather than simply a temporary state of affairs.”
Canada’s real economy in one post

4.6M public-sector workers
~2M on social assistance
= 14 million living on the tax base
funded by 16.5 million private-sector workers.
Government jobs and transfers inflate GDP and generate “revenues,” but they do not create wealth.
They transfer it.
The private sector produces the surplus.
Everything else is a claim on that surplus.
Trump claims the U.S. economy is booming like never before, yet serious credit-card delinquencies are at their highest rate since the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. This shows that Americans are struggling to pay their bills, which is consistent with bad, not good times.
