The #NERDS have won!

They’re finally getting even for us dumb jocks making fun of them and getting all the pretty girls!

They have managed to infiltrate our National Pastime and the game is circling the drain.

They have replaced real baseball people with their mathematician buddies!

They speak the non baseball loving owners language and have convinced them that they have discovered a better way!

Talk to anyone who worked in the game before they took over and they are sickened by what they are seeing.

I recall an incident at the @MLB Winter Meetings about 10 years ago where I was talking to a long time scout who had spent most of his life climbing the ladder from Area Scout to National Cross Checker. We were talking and a young nerdy looking guy walked by us and he said “You see that guy right there? He has more say in our meetings than I do.” I was shocked! I asked “Why?” He replied “He’s the head of our analytics department and he’s got the ear of the owner.”

Why doesn’t anyone in the analytics department get fired when their algorithms don’t work?

Imagine having a job where you have no repercussions if your work doesn’t lead to success!

A perfect example of this is the @Mets
