"The rulers will spend the summer celebrating 250 yrs of a system built on stolen land and slave labor. Leonard Peltier, locked inside his own home, keeps telling the truth about it. 'The struggle still goes on for me,' he said. 'I’m not going to give up."

NEW: Charged in Anti-ICE Conspiracy, Two Minnesota Defendants Speak Out
Activists say they’re being targeted for their political beliefs by a retaliatory government seeking to quash dissent.
As the last Prairieland defendants were sentenced to extreme lengths of prison time in Texas today, the latest victims of Trump’s NSPM-7 political targeting appeared in a federal court in Minneapolis. Fifteen community activists facing federal conspiracy charges for their activism during the government’s deadly Operation Metro Surge pled not guilty this afternoon during their arraignment.
“It’s about quelling dissent in Minneapolis,” said healthcare worker and activist Isaac Sant to Unicorn Riot a week after his home was raided. “And it’s about coming after the movement that rose up against ICE during Metro Surge in December and January.”
The 94-page indictment unsealed on June 16 describes many of the defendants as “anarchists” and “antifascists,” both labeled as “terror groups” in the most recent White House counterterrorism documents.
The charges are a continuation of Trump and Stephen Miller’s vindictive domestic policies as federal agencies are directed to go after political opponents using the NSPM-7 directive and an executive order designating antifa as a domestic terrorist organization — despite there being no formal classification of antifa as a terror org. Antifa is an ideology against fascism and is short for anti-fascist.
“With regards to NSPM-7, just know that these cases are going to continue. And while we may be anarchists, please don’t think that it’s going to stop there,” said Sant’s housemate Cal Robinet, who’s also one of the 15 indicted.

"This political trial is an effort to silence pro-Palestine activism and distract the public from the war crimes that educational institutions and the federal government are complicit in." https://t.co/vq7ORbXjiN
The prosecutions of a group of anti-ICE protesters in Texas have set a dangerous precedent: Now anyone engaged in basic protest with the wrong political beliefs can be labeled a domestic terrorist." https://t.co/UIQh7T2N9x
"These convictions likely preview what is to come–increasingly aggressive political prosecutions against left ideologies and political identities. Now is not the time to be silent. We call on mvmts to condemn these sentences & the Prairieland prosecution."

Words are failing us. This was a severe miscarriage of justice and a blatant crackdown on dissent and first amendment rights. We stand in solidarity with these defendants, and we know the fight is far from over. Free them all!

The sentences handed down today are a huge threat to the possibility of a democratic society. The prosecution is rife with constitutional violations, but 30 years in prison (more than anyone for January 6) for moving some magazines? 50 years in prison even for those not involved in planning the protest? The evidence of an illegal conspiracy is non-existent, but this is how the authoritarian dragnet targets those fighting against repression. Everyone should be learning about this case. https://t.co/XLki7OBuID
Our hearts are with the Prairieland defendants today as some of the group await their sentencing (others will be sentenced on July 1). We will be closely monitoring developments in the case and are here as a resource for families dealing with the fallout. https://t.co/PBc1rqoxL3
On today's anniversary of the Rosenbergs' execution, their granddaughter/RFC Exec Dir Jenn Meeropol is reflecting on the milestone achievement of the RFC turning 35 in the midst of political turmoil, and as of this spring, surpassing $10 mil total granted. https://t.co/yvTO5zStAB
Despite corporate attempts to co-opt it, the holiday is a powerful counterpoint to the Fourth of July that demands a continuing rebirth of freedom.

@CellarDoor747 Look, we're happy to engage in respectful dialogue. Trolling is not appreciated.
Neither of the Rosenbergs actually gave "the secret of the atomic bomb" to the Soviets as accused. Much false info out there. Two parents were ripped away from their children. It was unjust.
On this day in 1953, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed, despite protesters around the world rallying to save their lives, with public figures from the pope to Pablo Picasso urging clemency. The pair were accused of selling the secret of the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union.
@Whet_Becky Neither actually engaged in nuclear spying, and by the gov's own admission, Ethel wasn't suspected of spying at all. After a deeply flawed trial involving false testimony against them (admitted to far after the fact), both were sentence & executed. It was unjust by all measures.
“The real move on their part is to keep us from organizing on the things we need to be organizing,” says Erik Davis, an educator and organizer who was among the 15 people indicted in Minnesota. https://t.co/dPBmSvD9OM via @amiestager
Federal prosecutors have charged 15 Minnesotans for conspiracy to impede or injure immigration officers in Minneapolis earlier this year during President Trump’s so-called Operation Metro Surge. The indictment has linked the defendants to anti-fascist or "antifa" groups. Trump last year categorized "antifa" as a "domestic terror organization" — even though it is not an actual group.
“The conspiracy [charge] is really an attempt to broaden the net of federal law enforcement and to expand the ability of the federal government to target our movement and to foster repression,” says attorney Bruce Nestor, who represents one of the 15 defendants.
NEW: This afternoon, federal agents violently attacked a crowd of protesters after descending from the Warren E. Burger Federal Building with tear gas and pepper spray. Protests are ongoing in St. Paul after 15 people were indicted and arrested for anti-ICE activism.
Officials have banned reporters covering protests at Delaney Hall from wearing gas masks and carrying bags with other protective gear.
These kinds of bans are dangerous and wrong. We spoke to journalists who told us why.
