With the conclusion of last week’s episode of Villanova Sports Talk, my time as WXVU Radio’s Sports Director has come to an end.
Before graduation, I wanted to share some highlights from my three years as Sports Director.
During the past three years, WXVU broadcasted all home Villanova Football, Villanova Men’s Basketball, and Villanova Women’s Basketball games for the first time in station history.
WXVU also broke station listenership records for men’s basketball and football in the online streaming era. I led to efforts to increase WXVU’s social media presence, including game preview and recap videos.
One of my biggest priorities three years ago was to increase our coverage of women’s basketball. In addition to broadcasting all women’s basketball home games, our crew also covered some road games and increased coverage on social media and Villanova Sports Talk.
Each season, I interviewed many players and coaches for our airwaves, including Kevin Willard, Denise Dillon, and Mark Ferrante.
When becoming WXVU Sports Director in 2023, I wanted to create a weekly show, and Villanova Sports Talk was born. As a student, I recorded almost 100 episodes of Villanova Sports Talk and broadcasted more than 175 Villanova sporting events on WXVU.
Over these four years, including the last three as Sports Director, I wanted to bring consistent Villanova sports coverage to Nova Nation in an entertaining, engaging, and professional manner. I’m confident that our WXVU Sports team achieved that goal in all of our broadcasts.
I’m so grateful for our WXVU Sports team throughout the past four years, including Patrick Scanlon, Ryan Scanlon, Stephen Cain, Dominic Richetti, Michael Micceri, Jude Moes, Kareyna Baylor, Anthony J. Miller, Sammie McKee, and so many others. Thank you to Cat Coyle, Nick Langan, and Mary Katharine "MK" Coolican for their support. None of it would have been possible without them.
In addition to our WXVU team, thank you to Dean Kenefick, Michael Sheridan, David Berman, Danielle Whaley, Daniel Avington, Artie Prioletti, Hailey Silberman, and Reed Smith from Villanova Athletics’ Media Relations staff. They truly are some of the most hardworking people and have allowed WXVU to cover all of the teams.
I’m excited to watch the future of WXVU Sports under Nathan Mathur. I know this radio station will continue to be a staple in the Villanova community, and I’m looking forward to giving back to the station that gave me so much.
Thank you to all of our listeners! You are the heartbeat of WXVU and Villanova University. And as always, Go ‘Cats!

Ryan Fannon on @NovaFootball’s 2025 season:
“I’ve never seen a team that played that smart, that intelligent, protected the football, played with great passion. It was just a season I’ll never forget.”
