How @playsopo built a million from quarters and will build a billion from dollars:
Building a tech company that scales into an operational company is not easy. Especially when you’re just a startup attempting to disrupt legacy web2 corporations that, albeit more funded and staffed, are weak — stale tech, a group of companies circle-jerking the game into irrelevancy, out-of-touch ambassadors, and marketing that doesn’t reach new demographics.
Poker is incredible. One of the best games ever created IMO. BUT the current ecosystem needs a jolt — crypto native incentives, real community rewards, and more. And if you want to scale from “tech product” to “operational company,” player liquidity and sticky users are everything.
That’s why, during beta, we partnered with PokerFlops (a well known poker news/media outlet on TikTok and Instagram) to lead our initial Discord/community build. We’re a crypto-focused company, but for the master plan to work we needed to resonate with blue-collar players and college students, people less terminally online than CT, and build a genuine community there before rolling out our official launch, partnerships, point systems, and the crypto-forward products we’ve been building for years. PokerFlops crushed it.
With that said, I’m fired tf up to announce that SOPO has acquired @teampokerflops, turning a long partnership into one team. PokerFlops (led by PokerFlops Dylan and @AcePoker444 ) has been integral to our early success and will continue as a brand under the SOPO umbrella. Their content engine and community-first approach helped seed our earliest sweepstakes players, pressure test new features, and turn feedback into rapid product iterations.
By the numbers (2025 YTD): Pokerflops has 80,000+ followers across their socials, 2,000,000+ impressions, which is extremely impressive in a niche content market, and has leveraged that to generate an organic ~2,000 member Discord that kick started our sweepstakes play, brought in over 1,000+ KYC’d players & 26 college ambassadors which, generated $25,000+ in week #1 Poker Predictions volume and $1,000,000+ in ring game volume from ONLY $0.25/$0.50 blind games (micro stakes) — IN JUST 4 WEEKS.
This acquisition deepens rewards for the PokerFlops community, tightens product + content integration, and creates more ways to earn and leverage SOPO rewards (exclusive events, early feature access, and community driven initiatives that connect play, content, and perks).
With that foundation set, we’re moving fast into the next phase—which is heavily crypto focused. You’ll see it as more information hits CT.
Over the weekend, the Discord will officially switch from PokerFlops to SOPO ahead of [redacted] on Monday. You’re still early—Season 1 point farming hasn’t started yet; we’re still in Preseason.
