Like many Nigerians, I'm watching this current push for increased taxation with a mix of concern and frustration.
I struggle to reconcile: where exactly has all that money from petrol subsidy removal gone?

We were told that removing the subsidy would free up trillions of naira for critical investments. We were promised better roads, improved healthcare facilities, renovated schools, and infrastructure that would transform our daily lives. So where is it? Where are the roads? Where are the hospitals? Where are the schools?

Instead of accountability and visible development, what we're seeing is an aggressive drive to extract even more from citizens who are already stretched to breaking point. Nigerians are not opposed to paying taxes, we're only opposed to funding a system where public resources disappear into private pockets with zero consequences.

How can you ask people who can barely afford transport to work, whose children sit in dilapidated classrooms, or those who wait hours in overcrowded hospitals, to pay more taxes when government officials are diverting public funds with complete impunity?

When Dangote spoke on the funds released for the lands at his refinery we saw no benefit whatsoever to the people of Ibeju Lekki.

All we see time and time again are our monies used to renovating vps house, which he has moved out off, , buy cars at exorbitant prices,billions to repair refineries that still dont work,the state pampers and takes care of our leaders whilst choking the poor, no attempt to reduce the cost of governance

The brazenness of it is insulting.

Until there's transparency, accountability, and visible evidence that our money is being used for public good rather than private gain, this tax drive will feel like what it appears to be: another attempt to squeeze a suffering population while those in power enrich themselves.

Yesterday, I was in Strasbourg, France, to attend sessions at the European Parliament.
While there, I spent the day holding a series of constructive meetings with several members from various committees, from the Committee on Foreign Affairs, to the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, to the Members of the Africa-EU Delegation Committee, to the Committee on Transport and Tourism, and Development, amongst others.

I appealed to them to strengthen their relationship with Africa, especially Nigeria, which stands as a key frontier for global development. Africa, as I reiterated, is a continent of immense potential, the second-largest in size and population, richly endowed with natural resources, and powered by a vast, youthful demographic. Yet it remains the face of global poverty, largely because of bad leadership and entrenched corruption, a reality clearly reflected in Nigeria.

I urged them to support the development of Africa, particularly Nigeria, by advancing good governance. This includes supporting our democratic processes in ways that promote the emergence of competent leaders with the capacity and integrity to transform our nations.

I also highlighted how they can support us in addressing insecurity, improving power generation and distribution, strengthening education and healthcare, and lifting our people out of poverty. This is necessary because our success as a nation and the success of Africa have a direct benefit to Europe.

I also underscored the need to invest in and support Nigerian youths who have an immense desire and drive for entrepreneurship and productivity, if well supported, but are now facing despair due to limited opportunities.

Africa and indeed Nigeria can and must work for all and contribute to global developments.

The Tinubu Regime Has Secretly Transferred Nnamdi Kanu to Sokoto Prison

Yes , they have already planned it. Their intention is to move @MaziNnamdiKanu to a notorious prison based in the northern parts where his safety cannot be guaranteed. It is now confirmed that they secretly moved him to Sokoto prison earlier today.

They openly said he would “become a king” if taken to Kuje correctional center in Abuja, because because according to them “Igbo people” and his supporters would turn Kuje into a place of pilgrimage.

That is why they are desperate to keep him far away, isolated, and vulnerable.

It is also why they activated their cronies to start selling the illusion of “renewed hope” for MNK a psychological tactic to keep the public calm while they execute their darkest agenda. Their plan is simple, it is to keep your hopes alive just long enough for him to die in custody.

They have no intention of releasing him, not even for political calculations or electoral convenience.
I have said it before without fear, MNK’s greatest enemies are the politicians from his own region. They fear his influence, they fear his connection to the people, and they want him silenced permanently. This is why they fought tooth and nail to frustrate our #FreeNnamdiKanuNOW protest.
