all around great guy......sort of. ;). Pure blood, non vaxed. Colonial Families of America descendent, Sons of the American Revolution & yet, here I am. 🤣💪
If prices come down and the economy continues to improve over the next two years, average voters will believe it’s because Dems took congress. Most people don’t understand lag time of legislation or international issues and how that works. Want a R pres in ‘28, then hope the past repeats and it’s nothing but hearings and witch hunts in DC for two years.
@BillAckman And as so many vote this week because they are mad about gas prices and have zero long term memory.
COVID hell is long forgotten and this weeks feelings matter more. So very sad what we have become.
@GinaHinojosaTX@texasdemocrats@TX_Republicans Quite apparent she’s not the moderate she is currently trying to portray herself as
Gina Hinojosa is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives (District 49, central Austin) since January 2017. She has never served in the Texas Senate. She is currently the Democratic nominee for Texas governor in 2026, challenging Greg Abbott.
Key voting record highlights
Her record (from official votes and contemporaneous reporting) shows consistent opposition to most Republican-priority bills on taxes, education choice, gender policy, public safety, and border measures:
•Taxes / income tax: In 2019 she voted against House Joint Resolution 38, the constitutional amendment that strengthened Texas’s ban on a state income tax (House vote 100-42; voters later approved it 76-24%). She has disputed the framing of that vote and now says she opposes a state income tax. Abbott’s campaign has also cited roughly 40 votes by her against bills that would have limited the ability of cities, counties, and school districts to raise property taxes; she describes those as votes for local control rather than direct tax increases. In 2016 (before she entered the House) she publicly suggested an income tax was a missing “third leg” of Texas’s tax system.
•Education: Strong opponent of school vouchers / education savings accounts (voted against SB 2 and similar measures). She has pushed for higher public-school funding, teacher raises, and ending or overhauling STAAR testing.
•Gender / social issues: Voted against restrictions on gender-affirming care for minors, against bills limiting biological males in female sports and private facilities, and against measures defining sex as binary. These votes are frequently cited by opponents.
•Public safety & immigration: Voted against bills that would penalize cities for reducing police funding, against some bail-reform measures, and against certain border-security funding and the creation of a state crime of illegal entry (e.g., SB 4 in 2023). She has said she supports securing the border while criticizing aspects of Operation Lone Star spending and ICE enforcement.
On partisan House roll-call votes she has sided with the Democratic majority the large majority of the time (roughly 96% in available tallies).
Ideological classification
She ranks among the more liberal members of the Texas House. Independent analyses (Texas Tribune / Rice University-style ideological rankings based on roll-call votes) have repeatedly placed her toward the liberal end of the Democratic caucus, not the moderate end. Conservative scorecards give her very low ratings: Young Conservatives of Texas career score in the low-to-mid teens (higher numbers = more conservative), and Turning Point Action scores in the low teens.
Bottom line: She is a liberal / progressive Democrat. In the Texas legislative context she sits on the left side of her own caucus. She is not a moderate or a conservative. Labels like “ultra-liberal” are subjective and usually come from opponents; objective ranking data simply confirm she is consistently liberal. In her 2026 gubernatorial campaign she has tried to rebrand as a “populist” focused on affordability and public schools while downplaying culture-war issues.
@chakmillion Quarterly earnings reports matter. /sarc/
Gotta start listing the costs of hospitals like an oil change shop, and list the track records of the doctors that practice there .
