@Lisbeth2026@CaniKissTheTop@7NewsMelbourne Removing level crossings, adding extra city stations to the rail network, creating the rail loop, improving regional rail, adding more trams to the network. New childcare centers, free kindie. Probably other shit, but I like trains and looking after my kids.
@shookzie@LornaBlane@carltonreid The government are subsidizing the road network to the tune of £4 billion per year, this will make that subsidy far worse. The argument for this freeze is to deal with cost of living pressures. This is a terrible way to do that.
@techno92@IMacP21@carltonreid They're better off. I'd just had hoped the government would be making moves to deal with inflation(which this will stimulate). A policy could be written to benefit the cost of living pressures of the poorest more than the richest.
@techno92 @LawrenceLocke6 @stu_axon @chappersmk That's awesome! You have more reason than others to want fewer people incentivized to drive, less congestion, less road works, faster trips.
@M19gb @carltonreid Everyone benefits from it! Some benefit a great deal more than others. Ideally tax systems should be progressive to stimulate the economy, and to ensure that the poorest have more reason to interact within it This policy is regressive, meaning the rich benefit the most.
@techno92@IMacP21@carltonreid 44% of the people in the lowest 20% have no access to a car. The top 60% have 92% access. In distance driven, the lowest 20% travel 44% less than average, the richest 20% travel 55% more than average. The real effect of this, the top 20% are £220 better off, vs the poorest £80.
@IMacP21@carltonreid This is a regressive tax break that benefits the wealthy more than the poor. If taxes have any purpose it's to make society more fair, this is an unfair tax break. If this was proposed to give all rich people £100, it'd be fairer than this.
@ChadlantisNoble @LRH_Superfan@Babygravy9 I really doubt it, I grew up on a farm, every meal was meat, veg, milk, and bread. I started losing my hair at 14. Most men just go bald at some point in their life, we have no idea what triggers it. Lot's of men through history with little access to soy went bald.
@liarsinc2 @NFBUK@TheLTDA Wait, you're allowed to hurt people breaking road rules... There's quite a few people driving cars I could easily brick each morning. <3
@Sicknote4@charlie_baker23@RoyalMailHelp Safety hazards are now inconveniences? She's not bothered because it slows her down, she's bothered because it creates a blind corner that can, and does, kill and injure people.
@Bruh11432599@hamhammer27 If you care about the environment they're only slightly better than the black summer bushfires. If you care about the economy, they're quite a bit worse.
@NicherShell@luzen720 I don't like the USSR but they blunted the German attack well before lend lease took effect. Smolensk cost lives, but spent massive amounts of German equipment and organization.
