@JScotteswood Our mother called me out of a materialist wasteland and invited me to more fully meet her Son. I longed for power and she gave me humility.
UNREAL: HOSPICE REFUSED MAID
So the government decided to take their $8 million building.
Kicked them out.
Cancelled their lease with 25 years left on it.
Now the government runs the facility.
All because they would not kill Canadians.
@SecretFire79 The powerful words of one remembered for doubt. The Creed declared by St Thomas the Apostle recorded by the beloved St John is a marvelous moment 🌹
Today I'll post a lighter poem and perhaps it will spark a little delight for you in a clashing world.
This one reminds me of my mother (Robin, apropos) who died a little more than a year ago. My heart misses her fiercely.
When this poem came to mind I thought of her and her love of the simplicity—hiding intricacy—in nature...
@Tiana_Celine_23 And watching them go back and forth so quickly... Her hands, her hands move so fast! I can't take my eyes off them dancing around like that! 😉
I decided to continue adding poems occasionally. Open the image to see the actual poem. This one comes with a photo of my children (edited for their privacy... they are not cats) when they were very little and a follow up photo from fairly recently. There is about 10 years in between the two, Left to right is my boy the middle child + my youngest girl in the middle and the oldest sister in the bunch on the right. In the bottom Photo which was taken in a restaurant for a meal out of their mother. From left to right it goes oldest daughter first then the youngest in the middle and on the right my boy the middle child. I've spent a few years slowly learning German and some Latin so I like to embellish my work with it. This one can still bring a tear to my eye.
My wife showed me this picture from facebook. Idk who took it, so i cant give credit but this is a fire near Flin Flon, Manitoba with the Northern Lights. Horrific and devastatingly beautiful at the same time.
Thank you for your encouragement🥹. I'm hesitant to put my amateur efforts out but I might continue to do this occasionally Sharing this particular poem feels like an emotional unburdening and perhaps someone else going through their own type of family separation might connect with it.
This poem (in the attached image) is an expression of my emotions this year as my disease forced me into a care home away from my wife and children.
Life has harsh demands but God is Good...

I think it is important to note—in the prayer section of this poem—the petition is directed to the Old Testament Patriarch Sancta Isaac as his name properly pronounced carries the rhyme through the prayer.
(Yitz-chak - with the "ch" pronounced like the guttural sound in the Scottish "loch" or German "Bach")

....But tears... ...are like water that falls on a hard rock and, over time, manages to penetrate it. They are like water that flows over the shell of our stony heart, so that it might become a heart of flesh. Little by little they will transform our heart so as to make it docile to the Lord. They will make a notch so that mercy might pour into that gap, into that wound, just as the mercy of God was engulfed in Christ’s wound of love on the Cross. Here is a short passage by Evagrius:
“When we come up against the demon of acedia, then with tears let us divide the soul and have one part offer consolation and the other receive consolation. And sowing within ourselves goodly hopes, let us chant with holy David this incantation: “Why are you saddened, O my soul, and why do you trouble me? Hope in God; for I shall confess him, the salvation of my face and my God”” [Ps 41:6]. (Praktikos 27)
Here is another one, from Exhortation to a Virgin:
“Sadness is burdensome and acedia is irresistible, but tears shed before God are stronger than both.”
The Noonday Devil by Jean-Charles Nault

A machine cuts uniform boards,
but art needs the master’s hand—
chisels, a trained eye, patience—Wood Scarred.
I hope to be Christ’s icon—painfully shaped by life, by MS’s forge. Or, like a sapling branch, grafted to Life’s Tree—to borrow its energy, to bloom, to flower, to bare fruit—made, True, Good, Beautiful.
Fond memories hurt in a throbbing heart crush of bagpipe tears in my Celtic soul. Nostalgia really ain't what it used to be I guess... I can sit complain, get lost in sorrow or I can notice that I don't feel numb. Some people don't have fond memories from which to feel a nostalgic ache. I'll celebrate the scars—they've been earned alongside real people who really love me and I've had the privilege of loving them in kind...
