Most people fail at living a good life because they let society define it for them.
Define what a "good life" means to you—then live it on your own terms.
If you're afraid of going after the big one, do this:
-Play the worst-case scenario in your head: you lose a few hundred bucks and go back to a 9-5
-Give yourself 10 years before changing the idea
-Know that you only need to sign 2 retainer clients a month at $5K to make $120K a year
You only need to win once, and all of your failures will be the epic story that you'll one day tell.
Obsessive thoughts (overthinking) can be deadly even for an emperor like Ch’in Shih Huang Ti.
Shih Huang Ti built one of the greatest empires in human history—vaster and more powerful than that of Alexander the Great. Yet, he was paralyzed by an obsessive thought: the fear of death. He heard about an immortality elixir, and while searching for it, he died, and no one knew for days until his corpse rotted. To conceal the smell of his rotting corpse, his ministers transported his body back to the capital in a wagon filled with salted fish.
He died in total isolation—consumed by the very paranoia he tried to outrun.
